cb400 custom swing arm?
« on: October 10, 2007, 08:56:22 am »
Are all of these guys using a custom swing arm?!? Or are they possibly from another bike?

I REALLY DIG THIS BIKE!

Also, what shocks are they using? They are not the CB900 ones that everyone uses (which I consider too long)

Shocks look like the 'new' Kawasaki 1000 ( well about 2~3 yrs old) or, more likely, aftermarket

I can't read anything, but I clicked around and got to their online store.  Looks like they sell aluminum and steel box section swingarms.  Kevin at 400fourstore.com imports the steel one, he might be able to get aluminum too.  He also sells the exhausts, big bore kits, etc.

93,450 Yen?  I'm afraid to convert that to dollars.

Another option to the MC again swingarms is an aluminium swingarm from a NSR 250 MC18, this can be made to work with the 400F frame.

hi canttuckmyshirt

what is the '71 Yamaha LS2 100/Twin 2-stroke' you have in your signature, do you have any pictures? I'm intrigued.

Ok, I'll bite. How? The MC18's I looked at had a mono shock design. Are you saying the pivot point and such are compatible, I just need to weld on the twin shock mounts?

Don't have a cafe but do have a 1981 CM400 swingarm and wheels on a bike I am parting out.  I have no idea if that is what you need but wanted to help if I could.

Revamping this. Working on getting an NSR250 swing arm. Probably from the UK or Ireland.

Does it have to be an MC18? There are more variation of this bike than I originally anticipated..

You might want to email TTR400.  He was working on fitting one a couple of months ago.  If i recall there is some fab work needed and he also thought it was a bit too long for the 400F.

Not sure how TTR's coming along, but I'm interested in the idea also.  You don't see many NSRs in the states, so they are rare parts.  Had a guy looking for one in his parts stash in California but he never got back with me.
