Anybody else like messin' around with Z50's ?
« on: October 11, 2007, 05:58:20 AM »
Post up some pics if you do. This is my 69 Z50k1, that is restored to like new except for the paint color and bellow is a Z50k4 I did for a friend of mines son. Made some changes to handlebars so if he bent them up it wouldn't cost 100 bucks to replaceand left of the easily damaged tailight.

It looks better than what these two started out as  :D What year is it, early 80's I'm guessing. These things never seem to quit running unless they are out of gas ;D

I have absolutely no idea how old it is, it was distinctly second-hand when I acquired it last year.

The engine it's currently fitted with is a 60cc Rotax.  It came with the original motor too, which runs well enough, but needs a freshen up. When I get time I'll send it to the guy who used to build my Kart engnies so he can work his magic ;D

I bought it for my niece to learn to ride on because she's fascinated with my two but is a bit too small for them - she's just turned 6 8)

That Z50 looks great.  I'd love to have one.  I had to go for a 69 CT70.  It was the same color and year as the first honda I ever rode.

Z50s-no.  The later Trail 70s were, but I honestly don't see how.  They top out at about 40.  I thought that tagable vehicles needed to do highway speeds.  We aren't talkin mopeds here.

They actually are street-legal or should be (at least early ones), my 69 has a speedo & taillight and headlight.  I think though in N Amerca ones with speedos are not often seen..

In Europe and England I think they were often licenced.. look up Monkeybike..

I believe they can be made street legal, but back in the UK mine most definitely isn't :-\

Although it's probably a damned sight safer than some of the stuff I see tearing round Bangkok every day :o
