Hey Bill - were you looking for these things?
« on: October 11, 2007, 12:38:37 PM »
Bill-

I can't remember if it was here or over on the HondaTwins site that you posted about the rear horizontal mudflap thingys. Well, I was moving my 175 today and looked down to see the mounts to a horizontal mudflap.  I noticed them because I almost impaled myself with them.  I had the bike cinched down real good on my trailer, and brilliantly decided to pull all of the rear straps off first, leaving the front straps till last.  Not a conscious decision mind you, just that I was at the rear of the trailer after setting up the ramps.  It's amazing how much power the front suspension has when it's fully compressed and then suddenly let loose; like when the last rear strap comes off & it's set free.   :o :o :o  Anyway, if they will work on whichever project you needed them on, they're yours for the asking.  I don't have the flap (at least I don't think so, then again I do remember one somewhere...) and I don't care about it.  The exorbitant price is: free.

Hey cs, Those are the ones alright! I sure would like to have them, if you're not going to have a use for them and the mud flap, if you do happen to run across one. ;) We (you and I) were talking about them over on Hondatwins. here's the picture I posted there to show the piece I was talking about.

That is great that you have those. ;D

I guess the question is what the heck are they doing on my CB175?  Well anyway, sold to the highest bidder.  I'll look around for the mudflap, 'cause as I think about it, I think I do have it.  I was told that it was for the front, but who knows?

cs, that is just so ironic that you would happen to have those brackets and if you turn up an actual mudflap on top of that, that is going to be just so cool! 8) Just the brackets is something. :) Sure can't turn down you're asking price. ::) ;D Now, you wouldn't happen to have a Super Hawk front fender laying around somewhere, would you? ??? ;D ::) I guess not! :-\ ;D Now, THAT would be uncanny! Take care cs and thanks again! ;)

Ok, now I'm annoyed.  >:(

I just closed out the storage space because I need to store a boat instead (http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=27130.msg276992#msg276992) ~ I can only pop for one or the other.  I distinctly remember the PO handing me the damn flap and now I can't find it.  I can virtually guarantee that I didn't toss it, so it's gotta be here somewhere.  The search continues...

I really, really have to clean up.

cs, I hear ya about not being able to find something. I go through that myself off and on. :-\ Once I couldn't find my Hand Impact anywhere. I turned my place upside down several times and ended up going to Sears and buying one (my original is a Snap-On that I've had since early 70's). Then, about a month later, I found mine while I was looking for something else. ::) So, I can clearly identify with what you are dealing with. ;) Just when ever you find it is fine. Beggars can't be choosers. I'm just amazed that you have those brackets. and if the mudflap itself tuns up, that would be great! If you're like me, you'll find it while looking for something else. ;D Take care. :)

Oh Yeah, I never had a turbo'd job. Closest I got to one of those was an 84' Turismo 2.2 ( Plymouth's version of the Charger 2.2). Had a 110hp 2.2 (2 barrel carb) motor w/5sp and a full set of 14" Goodyear Eagles all way around (including the spare). For not being a turbo, it ran pretty good! ;D I held off an early 80's Camaro with it on the freeway once. My wife took it to work for a while and she came in one day and said, "I sure gave that turbo a workout today!" ::)  Should have seen the look on her face when I told her it didn't have a turbo! ;D Then, she was really impressed about how well that little car would run fly! I can well imagine how that Daytona ran! I knew a girl, who had a Shelby Daytona with the Getrag (I think that's what it was called. German anyway!) trans in it and that thing sure would get it! I knew of another guy who had a little Dodge Omni GLH (Goes Like Hell) Never rode in or drove one but, I've heard claims of being better that an road runner or Super Bee of "Back When". Can't verify that though.

Sounds about right bill...my old Daytona used to work over newer mustangs...the one car it put up a good fight against but could never really beat or seriously loose to was a 2001 Trans Am Ram Air with the LS1 Vette motor and 6 speed. Every time we ran i slipped no further back then having my front bumper even with the center of his doors...and thats on a worn out clutch in the daytona..

i'd kind of like to have one of the small bodied (68 style) darts as i have access to a 440 and torqueflite from a winnebago. THAT would be a fun ride.

There ya go. And it wouldn't be a huge problem to do either.
A Dart, Duster or, have you thought of a Volare' or Aspen? I had a new 76' Volare' road runner back then and even though it wasn't a fast car (318 2 barrel auto), it DID have a good ride and handled well. Torsion bars were mounted across the frame, instead of parallel  to the motor. I've heard and read about some great success after dropping a 440 into one of those.

Hey Bill, if for any reason those flap brackets don't work on your Superhawk, I'd love to buy them for my 175!

Now, who want's to put my poly 318 backed by a 727 pushbutton in my 64 Valiant? I'll even pull out the tired old 170/904 combo to make it easier for you.

Hey starion, I believe they will work but, I'll let you know if they won't. I'll need to check with cs first since he's giving them to me. We'll just have to wait and see. Let it be known that, if someone GIVES me something and I don't or can't use it, if a buddy needs it (especially a forum buddy), it goes to them for the same price. In amongst Buddies and Friends, freebies are just that! In My Book, anyway! ;)  Lots Of Luck with that 64' Valiant Project too! 8) ;) In case you didn't know, there was a 225 Slant Six produced that had a 4 barrel and a bit more "UMMPPHH" to it. I think it was in the early to mid 60's. I saw one that would do a number on the average smallblock anything! That one had a header with a large collector aimed at an angle toward the ground. The guy worked part time at a gas station (Back when they had Full Service ;D) and another guy had (what we used to call) a six cylinder 409! ;D Now, before any one starts getting on their HIGH HORSE, let me explain. The car was a 63' Impala Super Sport and it had the 6 cyl emblems on the front fenders. Now under the hood was a 425hp 409ci motor backed with a 4sp and posi! Both of those cars (in their on class) were not to be messed with.

Chris, Sounds good that you might take delivery early.  ;)
Yeah, I think this has taken a turn alright. At least there is something about the mud flap ever so often.

Yeah, mudflaps on a Camaro would look just about as good as the fender skirts I eaw on a 64' Corvette a long time ago! :o ::) ;D Be careful how you mount those mud flaps! ;D ::)
