Hard to tell from photo, but was that piece cutoff from something else?
CB350 twin vintage road racer, CB350F project, GS750es daily rider, NS400r play bike, 2 MB5s, Z50r project, CB500/590 vintage racer built for friend, CT200 project, and a Gina (Gilera copy made in Argentina)...  And ?????

Bracket is heavy gauge at about 3/16" inches thick. It's the only part in my basket case I don't have figured out. I've gone through all the parts diagrams and don't see anything that helps... I even painted the damn thing!

Maybe has nothing to do with CB750?????

My guess is a centerstand stopper for an aftermarket exhaust
K0 sandcast(in process of restoration), K0 diecast, K0 cafe racer
BMW R69S daily rider, 71SL350, 71 SL100, 63 SS50

By golly I think you got it. I held it up to L passenger peg and it looks logical (but, way too much steel required for the job). Oh well, back in the basket it goes since a 4/2 exhau$t is my plan.
