Better not have the Canadian strength brews if you are counting each tappet cover as a use.
.that would make for no memory of the event after having one for each on and off as a use...16 x 12-16 ounces would be between 192-256 ounces of beverage. Might have to empty the bladder a few times and have an incredible headache the next day.

I've always liked my NOS Kerker header on this bike, but chrome plated steel is susceptible to bluing, it's heavy and eventually rusts so stainless steel is a great way to go. Until the recent introduction of Hindle Exhaust Systems there have only been a couple of infrequent producers of stainless exhausts for CB550's and 750's. Hindle Exhaust Systems is a worldwide leader in aftermarket exhaust systems and now offers performance exhausts for CB550's, 650's, and 750's.

I got home from an out of town business trip to find that my package from Ripple Rock Racers had arrived! Say hello to my NEW stainless steel Hindle 4-2-1 exhaust system. It's sure amazing to see and feel the flawless build quality a true dedicated performance exhaust manufacturer delivers.

Gonna look purdy all polished and shiny.  ;D

It sure does look nice. But you should realize that stainless with also discolor with heat cycles Jimmy. Plated steel is not the only metal to succumb to heat.

Stainless is a great metal choice for motorcycle exhaust because of its corrosion resistance, but it is more brittle and will suffer from the heat cycles more than a mild steel. Ultimately, it will crack sooner than mild steel, but mild steel will corrode much sooner than stainless. I understand the Hindle system uses a much thinner walled tubing than others, so its durability will be interesting to note. Not suggesting for a moment thats its not a First Class product, just making an observation.

I'm fortunate that all my 5xxs use a perfectly fitting, top class stainless 4:1 from another so my need to explore the Hindle isn't there. But for 650 guys, it looks to be the cats pajamas.

I've had and still own motorcycles with full stainless systems so I know about the expected discolouration. Stainless doesn't get the harsh bluing you see on chrome but goes a soft gold colour. It looks really nice and the pipes are super easy to clean if the tubes are polished first.

I'm not sure I'd worry about durability though. Hindle has been in the performance aftermarket exhaust business for a very long time. They manufacture systems for street and off-road bikes that see extreme conditions and stresses. The tubing might be thinner wall than others but the entire system fits stress free and spring loaded. I also like that it supplies with a model specific muffler hanger.

Something else worth mentioning. The pipe routing provides considerably more ground clearance than my Kerker or the Yosh replica pipes while providing unobstructed access to the oil filter and drain plug!

Yup. Full slip fit with springs. Spigots at the head.

I'd like to ask Lang why the larger primary OD for the 550 though.

So that it works well with Mrieck stage III heads!  ;D

You may need some more red powdercoated bits (the exhaust springs or the nuts for the exhaust studs)!  ;)

That Hindle pipe looks damn good.  I'm very happy with the construction on the one for my 650, too!

Cost probably Brent. I have a 4/2/1 for a 900RR custom made for 2 Brothers when Freddie Spencer raced for them (think I mentioned it somewhere else on this forum). the primary tubes start at about .75....it is an awesome pipe with 3 sections before the final primary size. I was told it was built by some fella that makes NASCAR headers. The first bike it was bolted to felt like a supercharger was installed. A great exhaust can make a huge difference

Not red, he needs more blue bits...
He's got the red valve/tappet covers and a few other tidbits red... The deletion of those blue calipers just leaves the bike out of balance with the fung shui.   ;D ;) :D

ha, not so fast! i'm quite attached to them. only now with the better flowing head i do keep running into a wall that the stock pipes create. i do like them but they're certainly not a performance piece.

The previous (Cone) muffler bracket won't fit the Hindle exhaust so back to the lab I go.  ;D

No. It's super quick & easy to remove. With the springs removed the exhaust spigots remain fixed to the head and the three piece header slips right off. I can't imagine how I'd polish a single piece header other than by hand and I don't have a lifetime to do that.
