Honda 754 quiz,
« on: October 12, 2007, 09:04:55 PM »
1 Were all 69-76 exhaust clamps the same for SOHC 750 (F model excluded on this one)?

2 Was there any parts  besides taillight on   SOHC 754 that was used on other bikes??

3 Could you get a Die cast  gas cap for a SOHC 750?

4 Could you buy a SOHC 750 without a tach (750 Automatic does not count this time)

5 Did all SOHC 750's have a rubber boot on the m/c end of brake line?

6 Did the earliest sandcast 750  have a case protector by the front sprocket??

Guess away, some correct answers may require some aditional info (more than Yes or No)

Are you asking because you want to know this information, or you have a prize waiting for the correct responder?  ;)

1 Were all 69-76 exhaust clamps the same for SOHC 750 9F model excluded on this one)?

Assuming you mean the finned clamps up at the head, they are shown on all the K models from 1969-1976.

2 Was there any parts  besides taillight on   SOHC 754 that was used on other bikes??

Comparing to other contemporary Honda models I own, the tail light, turn signals (not counting the stalks), grips, control pods, headlight, master cylinder, brake light switches, starter solenoid... (the less part numbers an OEM has to keep track of, the better!)

3 Could you get a Die cast  gas cap for a SOHC 750?

If you're talking about one other than the common stamped gas caps, I don't know... The CR750 factory racing kit may have had one.

4 Could you buy a SOHC 750 without a tach (750 Automatic does not count this time)

I don't think so.. again, every "model year" photo of the stock bikes shows a tach..

5 Did all SOHC 750's have a rubber boot on the m/c end of brake line?

They show up in the parts fisches...

6 Did the earliest sandcast 750  have a case protector by the front sprocket??

Yes. I read about company testers complaining that the prototypes would jump the chain if the throttle was snapped shut from full throttle. Honda put the dinky chain guide in there as a band-aid, but in later models the larger front sprockets (improving chain wrap) and better chains eliminated the need for it.

1  I am talking the finned clamps, is there more than 1 version?

2  I think all you mentioned are right but I am thinking of at least one part  (or more) bigger than a master cylinder that may not be common knowledge.

6  You are pretty close on your answer.

I figured the quiz might be a fun way to who knows their parts and maybe make some parts easier to find...

the front rim will fit the 550k's. the black headlight case on some of the later model 750k's will also fit the 550. lower front shock cases from the 341 k's also fit the early 550k.  not sure about the 550f models or 550 k3-5

Thats what I meant.. BUT..
 check the part #...

Not used at first, then used for a while, then it got dropped.
So an early sandcast did not come with it.

Some partsbooks show exactly when a part was started and stopped..by serial #

1. Early clamps had lefts and rights, large 8 bolts and look a little fatter
2. Yes. The prototype in 1968 actually had a lot of CB450/350/175 parts on it including  rear fender, switches, stands, upper throttle cable.
3. Not
4. Not
5. Rubber master boot started around #1800 along with a really cool-looking upper brake hose
6. Its so slimy in there I never look

1 & 4 have been answered by 736 cc

736cc first said no to # 4 then got it later

#2 I am thinking of a fairly large part not yet mentioned.. that came out on KO models.. may not be commom knowledge..

#2 I was thinking of fork legs, the early style 2nd version was used on 750 and 450 (first ones with a disc).. so there are a few thousands more of these fork legs than some  realize.. Brake rotors and calipers too.

#3 early 750,s have die cast caps that at first glance look like all the others (non-locking ones)
