We don't need no stinkin' ...

 ???

Kind of a dumb  :P question, but how are emblems attached to side panels? I couldn't find an answer in FAQ. I have a 1970 CB750 with repainted side panels and tank, with emblems removed. I can't see where anything may have been attached. I can't tell from repro emblems on cmsnl.com how they affix to the panel. I want to have the tank and side panels repainted, but want to bring emblems, tank stripes and the chrome trim (also MIA) for the painter.

Again, kind of a simple issue, but with my lack of experience, one I cannot answer.

Well I dont know for sure about a 1970 model but my 78K has 2 holes through the side panels and the emblems have 2 posts. the posts got through the holes and there are push washers(dont know the actual name) that go one the posts and hold the emblems on.

I would not think the method changed much.

Eldar is correct.

It is possible that someone bondo'ed over the holes on your "repainted" sidecovers.

I use silicone for that kind of thing. Use a thin bead and either wet a cloth to wipe any excess, ot wait for it to dry and use a knife to score the edge and peel off the excess. Practice with something else, first.

I HAD S SIMILIAR PROBLEM WITH MY SIDE EMBLEMS, THE "POINTY PARTS " HAD BROKEN OFF.  I GOT SOME DOUBLE SIDED TAPE FROM THE AUTO DETAILER AND IT WORKS GREAT.
