gas smell after riding 550
« on: October 13, 2007, 10:51:40 am »
after riding my 78550k ,for about 3-4 days I can smell fuel when I'm in my garage. seems to go away after a few days. It does not show any signs of leaking. could it be my float needles need changing? I've been putting the job off because I have never taken these types of carbs apart and It seems like it might be a big job. how hard is it to get the carbs on and off the bike?

Start simple...  Make sure your fuel lines aren't cracked and oozing, and make sure they're snug on the nipples of the petcocks/fuel filters/carbs.
