the h pipe helps with scavenge of the exhaust gasses.

the pipe bender we have wont do the accordion fold bends like many aftermarket tail pipes it does more of a brake tubing bend, only on a larger scale.

I will talk to the powers that be and see about getting that stick ordered up for you.

although you may want to bring me the old pipes. I may be able to do what you want with them.

1. when i was researching it on the kawi twin forums , it seems the KZ twins just run better with the H pipe ( witch is why kawi switched over to a 2 to 1 )
----pretty much once i read that i didn't dig into why  .. i thought it would be just enough of a pain in the ass , to be fun to make

2 . a pipe bender (non-mandrel)  bends the pipe with little kinks in the bend ..( think, cheap AutoZone tail pipe.. the one at my bro's work doesn't do them that bad ,but just so ya know what i'm talking about )  a mandrel bender keeps the radius of the pipe the same all through the bend (for a smoother look and better flow)

Apparently there is already an exhaust crossover in the head, but if the bike runs even better with one in the pipes, then go for it.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

If I remember right, that head design was a disaster oil wise. It would leak out, if it made it up that high. But, I could be wrong. Its late. I'm tired. And, my insomnia won't let me sleep......Mental Illness Sux!

Yea, the pipes are better that way. Not sure why they did not make them hug the bike more from the factory..

Some drilling? Looks good tho..

Maybe someone else knws what I am talking about because I sure can't remember, but I was looking through a catalog many years ago and came across a mini muffler/baffle that would fit inside the pipe, so it would look like you had open pipes when you really didn't.

Looks fantastic...I'm voting for the exhaust that extends further out.

When it's hidden, it's got an unfinished feel to it, but the longer turnout seems to finalize things.

cheers, Joe

Spikey and Zaipai: Yeah thanks for that really brings back memories. We sold those off those dealer cards as fast as we could get them. $1.95 retail back then. You know I bet someone could buy that card for $200 and sell them for $15 to $20 each. Itd be a shame to break up that card though.

In making some those were a little flimsy and wouldn't hold up to alot of full throttle vibration, hanging out at the end of a long straight pipe like on a 305 or 350 scrambler. So you'd need to make them with toughness in mind.

They did work though. You'd jet for open and just putt around when they were closed.

Terry from Oz was saying he wanted to make some too.

Been without the internet for a few days .. will be a bit before it's turned back on

so i had to use a friend's PC to show you boys and girls what i been up to

while putting the ground wire back on , i snapped the bolt in the motor..
so instead of fixing it i just moved the ground to the frame

exhaust is all done , i wanted to wrap it all the way to the ends, but decided to make the tailpipe thingies removable
still have to make the "snuff-or-nots"  .. but there it is ... i love it

and i still have to weld the bracket to the frame

the rest of these are just fodder  .. enjoy

May I suggest that you hide the start solenoid?  I think that if you cleaned up that rear triangle it would give a sleekness to it.  With such a low slung seat you can't hide the battery but if you were to get rid of it altogether with a small capacitor bank?  a bike that slick should be kick start only anyway? ;D
