Nice.. Gonna get that moving, or is it just a parts bike?

i havn't really decided yet ....  getting a title isn't impossible, but it is a PITA .... i've been seriously considering putting the top end of the 650 on my 550 just to do it ... but in all likelihood it'll probably just be a parts bike

Can't blame you, you have a lot on your plate as it is. I wonder if the 650 in a 550 frame has any advantages.. hum.. I know just using the top end usually gives a boost but with your cam and all not sure it would make a big difference.

So when does the bike lift go in!  ;D

that megacycle cam is the reason i'm on the fence about the whole thing ...from what i've gathered from Paul's various threads on the subject , the 650 has better intake porting and cam degrees, the 550 has a better charging system and transmission

i've also been kickin around the idea of just doing a 555 kit (since i can finally afford it) because i like the look of the 550 top end better ...   these are all just ideas that have been brewing ... lately bro ..between moving and working 50 plus hours a week,  i don't have time to do #$%* , and what little free time i do have is taken up by the kid

Do you know does some one make a 555 kit? I would love that, so that it takes the guess work out of it all. Kinda why I have not beefed up the motor any even tho I would love to.

The problems you listed are all good ones to have. The kids grow up and move out so fast.. Its really amazing how fast it goes when you look back at it all. Having a job, any job is a great thing.

Glad things are going so well for you even if it means giving up some time with your babies!

Are you in the same area as before?

When are you moving down to DFW Spikey?  We could use your talent down here!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Sweet! That explains the urgency to get that caliper apart.

yeah thats what i was doing while the caliper soaked in carb cleaner ...   man i soaked it for about an hour and still couldn't get the piston out , put it back in the dunk tank and let it soak overnight .... still wouldn't come free (with compressed air)    ...this #$%*er is seized up good man ... sooooooo anyone have any good methods for freeing up a seized caliper piston

just a regular grease gun will do. remove the banjo bolt and screw the end of your gun into it. it isn't the right thread but finger tight will do. and pump away.

I have a caliper from a 82 VT 750 dual disk setup if you want it Spikey, it seems to work tho I have not been able to test it. It looks very much like the one on my GS1000g so I would believe it would work. PM me if you want it.

not a bad way to spend a tuesday night if ya ask me

if your wondering why the bolts are so long , i had everything i needed to grab from work written down
and i forgot the stupid paper .. so i just grabbed ones that were DEFINITELY long enough to bolt both rotors together  ;D
if you have a drill press i highly recommend this setup , i was loosening and moving the rotors with one hand ...it was awesome

4 bolts (i used 8mm) 70mm long , bolt the rotors together with that .. another bolt about 90mm with 2 wing nuts on each end , two 3" circle plates (the shape doesn't matter, it was just easier to carry in my pocket) with a hole in the center... thread one wingnut on backwards, all the way onto the bolt and secure it somehow (weld, JBweld, epoxy, semen, super glue, dead babies..ect) viola.. perfect rotor clamp .. worked like a charm
(playing with the camera settings while drilling)

...got both calipers in pieces , waiting for the rebuild kits that should be here tomorrow or friday
