so i've heard that running 2 separate brake lines right off the MC is the best way to go ... i was planning on running one off the MC and splitting it with a tee right under the lower triple clamp. but opon hearing that 2 lines is better for even braking i'm not so sure ... opinions?

I was taught here, and in no uncertain terms, and I believe it, the pressure in a hydraulic system is forever and always, constant. It won't make any difference what your line configuration is. So do what is most visually appealing to you.

I have no first hand data to prove it, but i believe it.

Yea, both my Suzuki and Honda VT750 have a splitter under the lower tree, I would think that if there were any advantage to having 2 lines up to the MC that one of those (or both) bikes would have done that. Having worked with hydraulic presses most of my 20's is I can tell you that hydraulic pressure is constant and distance is the only thing that weakens it. For brakes on bikes, go with what works for you like MCRider said. It really wont matter. If however you wanted to run a third line to the back brake then you may have an issue..

I used the complete setup off a KZ900 when I added dual discs to my twin. There was a splitter under the headlight that bolted right up. Sure do miss that bike. Had drag bars, 2 into 1, dual discs.

me and my brother got the duel brakes working , not totally sure the MC i used will be up to par at full speed , but they work really nice in the garage

And i got it to where we think it should start ... but it won't start... i,m thinkin the only missing link is the carbs .. i'm in the middle of (fully) rebuilding the carbs ,did it kinda half ass last time. and just cleaned the jets out ... so now i've got the carbs off getting a bath in the dip tank .. carb kits are on the way.

if it doesn't start after that ... then i might just be at a loss ..

oh yeah .. and while we where trying to get it to fire ..... we burned up the starter .. so i had to add that to the to-fix list

I get the feeling that the carbs were the problem too. well see if we can get it to fire with the kick....

I gotta pull the carbs on mine and clean them. as well as dee's kz440.

What the heck are you doing to Spikey? You rebuilt that motor not too long ago correct? The boy is getting big.. Pretty soon you can both take turns kicking the bike over..

i know man them Kawi carbs are a serious PITA, it wants to start ...i just cant figure out why it wont .. it's in the carbs somewhere. time will tell

as for the Phoenix, it's gettin bored out to 565

What I have noticed is that on the Kaw's having the stock air cleaner is a must unless you have rejetted even then pods rarely work well. I covered 3/4 of the opening on the carbs (the stock air cleaner is off getting cleaned and painted) and the bike ran a whole crap load better, it idled, rev'd ..etc.. I just don't know if power was there cause I could not take it for a ride to see.. GL post up a vid as soon as you have it sorted out...

yeah i hear ya ... i'm starting to think pods was a bad idea for this bike, over on the KZTwin forums , there are a few bikes with pods so it should work ... i have rejetted , and unlike our hondas i had to change several jets , as well as move the needles ... it's about as close to rocket science as i'd like to get

Yeah, sounds like you have the carb basics covered as I thought you would. Well keep at it your bound to get it running smooth. Do you only have a kick start for it? I have only a starter on mine so when it goes dead I have to keep recharging it. Well keep us posted.

It's dual start, electric and kick. The problem is, we burned the starter up trying to get it to fire the first time.

Yea, I am afraid of that myself, however there is no kick start to fall back on. So I have just decided to save up some green and get a fresh set of carbs since I am sure these are problem carbs. We will see tho.. Still looking for a good set so..

Try restricting the pod filters with tape. Wrap it from one end until you get the right amount of restriction (ie: it runs well) and then mark the filters at that point. Take the tape off and soak the filters in epoxy UP TO THAT POINT you marked. Voila! Restricted pods. You could get creative and runs some stainless or copper tubing between the two metal ends on the pods and that would give you some sort of equalization between the two carbs.

Just my morning brain storm It might work or it might not.

Just don't use that ultra thin stuff. It will soak up the whole element and that would be bad.

Hello Spikey Bike you might try searching and asking at KZRider.com. Most guys there are into the four cylinders but not all...very knowledgable, fun loving folks.
