Well, almost a month late, but it finally happened. Got the surgery done and after spending 8 days in the Hospital I am home again. It seems that no matter what precautiions I take, something gets screwed up, lol. They changed the location of the graft from the hip to the knee at the last moment, they nicked my neck muscle when they put in the clot filter making it ache for 5 days, they found a torn tendon in my knee from an old injuury that never healed right(wondered why that knee never worked right), the nurse tried to OD me with anti-coagulants, and last but not least, a few days after the surgery, they pulled the drains out from the leg and they wouldn't stop flowing, almost needed a transfusion, lost that much blood. Completely soaked three towels trying to stop the flow. I am still a bit dizzy but doing better. I fainted when it happened, all that blood pouring everywhere.
Anyway, here I sit, in my wheel chair once again, leg feeling like it went through a woodchipper, and no drugs are helping the pain. I'll just give it more time, it is the only thing I have plenty of right now, right? lolol.
And to top it all off, I dropped my camera, a brand new Olympus Digital, so no new pics for a while.
Rita sits out front, stripped down to just the engine, waiting for me to get the rest of the parts to start working in earnest. I figure January I can start getting the final parts and supplies, and I'll be ready to start getting her ready for the road again. It has been a long road, but this ride will be the last off the bike. I should be back in the saddle by summer.
Talk to you soon,
Jeff
