I am considering having someone else do the motor rebuild for me on this one...any recommendations or anyone on this site do that kind of thing? I just want a bone stock rebuild with new gaskets and whatever else needs replacing. I would do it myself but I have a ducati project that you can see in the background of a few pics, and another two stroke project, as well as my car to fix. I'll probably end up doing it myself, but figured it wouldn't hurt looking into other options. Or I suppose I could just clean this sucker up and slap it back in there lol.
If you're looking just a stocker for the engine, why not just clean it up and toss it back in? If it needs a quick rebuild, check with your local Honda dealer. They might be able to do it themselves or have a good recommendation for someone. New Rings, gaskets and seals shouldn't cost too much in labor, I wouldn't think.

That engine is about 40 years old. The kids now have very little experience except on a laptop computer LOL...lol
If you want it rebuilt correctly have Cycle-Exchange in wisconsin rebuild it.
If you slap it back in that could be a mistake.
The cam chain rubber rollers have had 40 years to age get brittle and now all the little crumbs of rubber will end up in your oil sump and crankshaft galleys.
That has a dry sump oil system. The oil is stored in the oil tank not in the engine.
It probably needs a new cam chain too.
The valves and guides need to be checked.
It takes special valve cutting tools and they are long gone from the Honda dealer.
