So here's my Intro.
« on: October 17, 2007, 03:04:25 PM »
I have to say first off that I am completely hooked on these bikes!I am 38yo and have NEVER been a motorcycle rider, but things have changed now that I own my first bike.
My wife thinks I'm nuts for wanting to ride, but I think that's just a personal problem ;)
Here's the story:
Been looking at various cafe style bikes online and kept my eyes and ears open looking for a starter bike that wouldn't be too hard on the wallet, and that wouldn't upset the wife too much either.
Found a '73 cb500 on CL. Advertised 'All torn apart but was running $200'
You know as well as I do that was don't mean will
Went to look at it, the only thing torn apart was the tank, headlight, guages, turn signals, seat and 70's era full fairing were setting in a box.
Ended up getting it for $150 (Which explains my profile name)with all registration dating back to 1973 when it was originally licensed.
This past weekend, got the wiring worked out (Thanks to wiring diagram here) and some cleaning of the tank and carbs, and its up and running.
Now for the winter, I will be cleaning up and adding my own touches to it.
Hope to post up some pics soon.

Welcome
Great score!
You just cannot describe the feeling of the first ride on one of these babies that`s been cast aside to die and you have brought it back to life ;)
It`ll be like your own little puppy dog that came from from the pound ;D

I also highly recommend a Motorcycle Safety Course before that first ride!!!
