I think you are missing the point. If everybody complained about the bad deals they got on ebay we would have no regular posts.

We all do this already. It is called the good/bad sellers. We still seem to be quite active everywhere else. Also burke was not making an accusation against anyone. You'll notice he did not say ANY names. It was only after being pressed that he listed the auction number. before then he was merely venting a bit of frustration, which every last one of us have done at one time or another here.

Quote
This sounds a little self righteous and intentional to me. From this persepctive it looks like he is trying to take a subtle jab at a seller because he feels cheated.

How so? The item was not as described. Sure the things were piddly but when you pay for something, you generally are going to expect what is described. Now before you say "thats what you get on ebay" this is from a fellow member. One who had been pretty vocal against another member in the past, so maybe it is just "going around". But again, had no name been said, no one would have known who the seller was.
With how small the issues were, he decided to gripe a bit then get out the polish since he was going to paint the tank anyways and so decided not to bother with paying the extra to send the tank back.  SO what.

As for commending dj, how so? That he used poor language? Send the damn thing back? Sounds good to me. ::)

Maybe burke did go about it wrong but I favor that theory that if dg was a new member, you would not have been so defensive.

Remember this post? http://www.sohc4.us/forums/index.php?topic=25620.se

No defense for fuzzy from you.

So what I am saying is that before you jump all over burke AS YOU ARE DOING and you know it, maybe cut him a little slack and see that there is a bit of merit in what he says. I doubt any of us here think any less of dg but I bet he is a little more descriptive now. Which is always a good thing anyways.

Be careful if you take the Pet Cock off for any reason on these - both of mine have damage to these areas - on one the nut was glassed into the inside of the tank - at some stage it had been overtorqued and broke loose - when I removed the pet cock the nut fell off the back and into the tank..  I still haven't figured out what to do - I'm thinking of a helicoil into the fibreglass or drilling out the hole oversize and epoxying a drilled and tapped ally tube in place.   :-\

geeto,if mlinder hadnt have mentioned that dg sold the tank i dont think the rest of us would have known or cared who sold to him in the first place.

I knew, I was watching the auction. mlinder knew. It wouldn't be hard to imagine at least 3 more people who knew on this board as well.

But that is part of my point, it doesn't matter who sold him the tank - it does matter that he decided to make this public instead of talking this out with the seller in the first place. Call me old fashioned but the fair thing to do is to at least attempt some sort of reconcillation before you are going to bring it into a public forum

eldar,

usually you post in the good/bad sellers after other issues have been hased out. You give the seller time to work it out before you bring it into public. It is a subtle point I am making but not a hard one to understand. if you still don't understand what my issue is I'll explain it again.

As for that post reguard fuzzy, I didn't see it. I don't know how I would have weighed in on that because it is a different issue entierly. Plus I know fuzzy from other boards (not personally just on the internets). Admittedly I don't read every post here because frankly there are some I am not interested in. I don't see how bringing up this post helps your argument.

I don't have to cut anybody some slack. I must state that I don't personally know dg, never met him, but I can sympathize with this situation and it sucks when the buyer would rather piss and moarn publiclly to a bunch of strangers rather than work it out. I think it sets a bad precedent where they buyer would rather make it the forum's business instead of seeking a proper solution.

Well just remember that when you do it to someone else. Dont expect any slack then for yourself if you cant show any.

Something tells me I am not that much of a prick that I would have to worry about it....

Really, what is so wrong about telling somebody to hande their business like a man instead of being sly about it and bringing it up on a public forum?

Hey Burke,
You have replied to others in this thread, but you haven't/won't reply to my "send it back for a refund".
The woman who bought the rest of my Dunstall kit would be more than happy to get the tank to complete her set.

Edit: I dont know how this "dg sold me a crap tank" thread turn into the "Geeto's a less than desirable person" thread.
Burke, maybe some people just might think your an #$%*. You never replied to me but you did reply to others in the thread. If you wanted to complain, you should have complained directly to me about your problem and I would have corrected it. Instead, you tried to start a public attack on me that backfired in your face..
Did I mention that some people just might think your an #$%* ?

Fuzzy, it means that geeto thinks he is basically untouchable. basically.

Oh, please.... whatever.

I may not be untouchable, but I wasn't born yesterday either. I hear a lot of yammering about how "hard" I am being on this guy but I don't really see anybody disagreeing with me that what he did was bad form. At the best it was intentional at the worst he is stupid, I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was not stupid (espically since he chose to take a self righteous stance about being burned in one of his posts), after his last post I am pretty sure he is both. You want him to "speak his mind" but you jump on me for being hard on him for speaking mine, that is a really nice double standard you have going there.

I look at it this way, if any good comes out of this it is that if you have a problem you should handle things the right way, and blabbing on the internet INSTEAD of trying to work a resolution is a piss poor way to do things. If you tried and it still went bad then, well, blab all you want.

I am pretty much done talking about this, y'all can take all the shots you want.

I could care less what people think about my comments on this situation. In my opinion it seems Burke didn't contact df first like he should have, but instead came right to this forum and whined about a bad deal he got. If he wanted a perfect item he probably should of contacted someone and had one made new - it's only money. I also think this post should have been closed or locked until Burke contacted df and tried to resolve the problem, if not resolved, then he could post something here.  ::)

Apparently geeto, you cannot read. So I will quote what I put up before and maybe this time you will read it instead of acting all righteous in your opinion.

As for the untaouchable part, that was a simple translation and since you reacted so badly too it, it must have scored on you which may indicate that it is true.

Maybe it was bad form but you have not shown any better form. Well whatever. I guess it is ok if you have lots of posts right?

So I am done with it too. I agree maybe it should have been handled differently but you also have been handling any criticism poorly. Oh well next topic please. At least I will be able to treat everyone that same as before, lets see if you can.

dg, the tank looked great and I normally do not like yellow and looked in sharp condition. And while it may not mean much, I would recommend a person to you.

I had to point this out one more time because I think people missed it in the beginning...  If Burke had started out by saying "so-in-so" sold me a f'ed up tank then there's be an issue...  Please people, take a chill pill and read people's posts more carefully before you start hacking people's heads off...

To be honest I wish I didn't walk into this #$%* storm...to be perfectly honest I had no clue that the item was posted on here or another etc...to me it just sounded like he was less than thrilled with his purchase...lord knows it has happened to us all...

I am not sure why it degraded to this point?!? The name calling etc is just childish!

Now that Burke knows who the seller is I agree with DG. If you're unhappy send it back or work out other arrangements.
