It's Dahon - NOT Honda!
« on: July 19, 2014, 01:20:41 PM »
Decided to get my hands on another project.  This one is no vroom vroom.  No motor. No smokes.  No fuel.  No carbs.  Sorry guys.  But it's a bike!

If this don't belong on this forum, moderator please delete.

The bike has been sitting in my backyard for may be 2 years now, don't remember how I got it or how much, but I just have to get it restored so I can take it out riding with the kids.

Bike isn't too bad shape. Just some rust spots here and there around the chrome, and bad tires.

And an hour later I got it torn all the way down.

The bike has endless chain?!?!  How fast can this thin go to require endless chain?

And oh, here's a good one

37 balls bearing for sohc4 steering stem, and difficult to install? This little dahon bike has what seem like millions of them.

Going to soak some rusted chrome pieces in old evaporust over night and see how they come out tomorrow

No carbs to rebuild, this should go quick.  Chain looks pretty rough.

I bought a Dahon 'Mariner' from a boat dude, it had 20" wheels w/ a six speed rear,I had to remove the front fork and have it straightened(the bike shop guys didn't like that because the steerer tube was SO short and stubby..couldn't get enough leverage to fully straighten it...)but I liked it ok for a while;nothing beats a full size bicycle for standing up & climbing hills though. What size wheels on that Dahon goldarrow ?

With the build over so quickly, now you have time to time for pods! By the way, what oil are you planning to run in it and what break-in schedule???

Guys, MMO on the "main" drive chain, once a year or 2 miles, whichever comes first.  As long as you keep to this strict schedule, this lean mean dahon won't give you any issues!  8) ::)

Isn't Dahon an anagram from the word "Honda" ?
