Any tricks for removing copper exhaust gaskets?

I havent given them a try but they seem to be stuck and I don't want to damage the heads.

Just pry them out with a screwdriver

if you go at it from an angle, you can kinda get a flathead screwdriver behind one edge (between the back side of the gasket and the front side of the lip in the head). i usually hammer the end of the screwdriver lightly with my palm and it comes loose.

I've always had good luck with a scratch awl.
