Just another reason I do not need to be buying a crotch rocket.
... the term makes sense, considering where that dent was made and by what.

My luck I would have gone over that little white wall, and never seen above ground again.
Not that My riding skills are anywhere where those guys think theirs are.

Glad they are ok though!

OK, I'm not impressed. They can go very fast. Obviously have skills I don't have. But will kill themselves and maybe somebody else along the way.

First, I'm not sure what country their in.

If Italy, and they are licensed for it, then their allowed to drive that way.
If you noticed in the commentary they are racers.

Maybe some other European Countries also. The plant life looks Italian.

Would I do it on the street if I could, no! Just to many other idiots
who drive at the other extreme, to dang slow. And yes, to slow is as
dangerous as to fast on those roads.

This can't be justified.  It doesn't matter what country they are in or what kind of license they hold.  They were in it over their heads.  That wasn't the first corner he blew before he crashed.  Other people were on that road just minding their own business.  If they would have taken out one the bicyclists, it would have been the bicyclist's fault for going too slow?  As I see it, what they were doing was criminal negligence, complete disregard for other people.  And believe me, I'm no Mrs. Grundy.

They seem to ride pretty good but I wasn't overly impressed. What did shock me more is how they were racing under poor conditions with total disregard for other people.  :(

 Nice one, Rocking-M :)

I'm not of the camp that thinks speed alone is the deciding factor of how dangerous riding can be. I've seen a lot less regard for safety of riders doing 45mph than I saw in this video. Aside from the final turn in the video I only saw one blown turn by the lead rider, blown turn being defined as crossing the center line in a blind corner with no chance of coming back, which happened just after it had "popped out of their pants" and right before it changed to roadside camera perspective. The trailing bike will take more liberties with the centerline while using the lead bike for cues as to oncoming traffic.

I'll never go as fast as these guys did. I lack the skills and confidence necessary, and yes I am as afraid of hurting/killing someone else as I am myself. Just didn't see anything in this video, except for speed, that led me to think these guys have a death/murder wish.

I saw plenty more than that, but speed is enough in this case.  They may not have a death/murder wish, but they are stupid and inconsiderate.  I've come across too many innocent bystanders splattered by such as them, whether on bikes or in cars.  Anyway, Mrs. Grundy is going to retire from this thread.

I've seen a few videos like this, and in all of them the same thing pops up in my mind: the plates are from UK,but the roads are mainland Europe. I bet they are either french or spanish, if only for the proximity, and because they look VERY familiar to me. I have tried to read some sign to make sure but I've been unable.

If they are caught speeding -very improbable-, they just have to pay the fine. Most of the radars here are stationary, so a photograph in some DMV office will never reach UK. The ferry ticket is way cheaper than a fine -or even jail- in their home country.

I would be terrybly pissed off if those #$%*s crash into my car when I'm travelling with my family. For the price of a trip to Spain they can get an entrance ticket to a race course. Hope they kill themselves before they kill somebody else.

No worries, ofreen. I'm sure that your job as EMT would bring a more realistic vision as to the hazards of speed than my daily riding would.

I do ride with a number of different groups and when I'm out with the sportbikes I am always following somebody. I tend to find a rider to follow that has good vision of the road ahead and has smooth entrance and exit speeds in turns. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the video from the trailing perspective and, except for the speed, would have been happy to trail this bike for a days ride.

I got about 1/2-way through the video and decided I'll never own a crotch rocket. At about 3/4 I had to turn it off (right after the follower almost rearended the leader).

I guess what really got my panties in a wad was the trashing of a perfectly good Bimota.  Too bad about the 996, but there's lot's of those. ;D

I'm not an EMT, just worked a lot of swing shifts over the years, getting off work as the taverns close.  And I travel a lot.  I seem to have a knack for coming up on accidents right after they happen.

I had my GSX-R and I have my CBR.  I find sport bikes to be the most interesting motorcycles, and I occasionally get to ride a current one.  Right now, if I were to add a bike to the collection, it would be an RC51.  I know there are people that would lump me in with those two on the video because I like to ride quickly, too.  But I know how to pick my spots.  I've done it enough to know that what those two were doing was way beyond the pale.  They left zero margin for error or happenstance.  If they bite it, so be it.  But there are other people out there in harm's way, and they don't care.  Completely selfish.

But I know what you mean about watching the video.  It looks like fun, pretty seductive. ;D

I did mistake you for one of the several EMT's that post here, so thanks for spotting my comment as a sincere one ;) :)

We've got a number of nice roads in the hills near my house. Some of them run through residential areas and active ranch/farm lands. There are only a few roads where the amount of vision and lack of turnouts/intersections leave me comfortable enough to get on the throttle, and then only during times when traffic is light and road conditions extremely favorable.

The guys who race through the residential areas are complete moronic #$%*tards and give all cyclists a bad rap. The guys in this vid may have picked this road carefully and may even have spotter help from all of the roadside crew they have filming, but are going too fast to do anything about a car u-turning out of a turn out, a bicyclist that is center lane in a turn, a stalled vehicle or any kind of hazard that has fallen in the roadway. Your calling them "jerks" is letting them off easy.

I did see that they slowed when passing bicyclists and took the other lane when speeding by cars stopped in the turnouts. And, even though the trailing bike was too close for my tastes, there was enough in the vid to make me appreciate the skill and competence of the riders. Do I condone riding as fast as you want, wherever you want just 'cause you have skills? No.  I just had to offer up my take on it, however unpopular, 'cause I did enjoy it and have seen far more dangerous riding up close and personal by inexperienced riders trying to keep up with faster bikes.

Thanks for not flaming me to a crisp ;D
