350F options
« on: October 22, 2007, 06:45:42 AM »
My current winter project is a CB350F.  The plan WAS to powdercoat the frame red, spray the tank and seat blue, stripe the tank and seat by hand and re-cover the seat in red. Lots of small detailed changes included replacing the Honda badge on the tank with '60's round wing medallions.

I thought I had a plan, but along came a CR750 tank and seat.  Now I really want to abandon the old project and go totally cafe.  I know it's a shame to use that tank on anything other than a 750, but it's MY tank and I already have a 350F.  What would YOU do?

It's your reality, but if you want input...

That blue/red scheme screams MV Augusta 750 from the mid seventies.  I think those colors with that tank and seat look really sharp.  That said, you can't go wrong with CR stuff on anything, always looks the part (except on a Schwinn, but it would still be a conversation piece)

Maybe save the CR stuff for your next project?

Just my $0.02

I have the same 350f as you and I want to do a cafe project.  Where did you get your seat for that and the back end?
Thanks!

I made the seat.  The seat was built on a base of 3/32 inch T6 aluminum.  The cowl is from the back half of an old unusable CB350F fuel tank.  It is spray painted Wal-Mart red (97 cents a can) to keep it from rusting before it gets painted the final color.  Over the bare bead-blasted steel the paint looks close to the color of the tank when viewed from a distance.  The aluminum pan has the hinges and lock parts from the original seat so it opens up like the stock seat to allow access to the tools and air cleaner.  I have re-done some of it since the picture.  It has more foam in the seat now, and is actually pretty comfortable.

If you were talking about the CR750 seat, I bought it at the swap meet at the Barber Vintage Festival.
