whats the best way to crate and ship a 750?

Strap it to a beer pallette and bring to a Foward Air terminal. Just under 200 pounds.

how do you strap it down? tie downs?

Prop it up w/ a couple of short 2x4's and use rope. Keep it simple.  I've carried motors on pallettes in the back of my Volvo wagon, and because its on a skid, they reach in w/ the fork lift and remove ez.
Foward Air doesn't deliver door-to-door; you drop it there and recipient picks it up at terminal near them.
