Topic: valve clearance adjustments worries

I also use an offset box wrench with a medium screwdriver. The feelers that I use are ones made just for adjusting valves. They're sized .002 & .003 on one and .004 & .005 on the other. The blades are angled at about 45 degrees and are narrow.

Mike, where do we find these valve adjusting feelers and who manufactured the set that you have?
I looked for a while a couple of years ago (for a more suitable feeler gauge) and gave up. Many did not have small enough sizes and I never saw one with narrower blades.

The parts n' more tappet set is basically a socket with a handle on it, and a screwdriver that goes through the center (I bought one a while ago).  You do still have to use a feeler gague, but it sure makes the job a whole lot easier.  Last time I adjusted the valves without the tool I had to have another person with me to hold a socket in a pair of pliers and a screwdriver at the same time, while I said, "Nope.. Oh, wait, back it off... there ok you got it ther.... Oh, wait lost it..."

I know this is an old topic but I'm looking for a Tappet adjuster tool for my 750F.

Dennis Kirk doesn't have them any more, and the ones from Parts N More are not reported to work on cylinders 2 & 3 due to clearance issues.

Anyone have a recommendation?

Yes I've been using the screwdriver and 10mm wrench successfully, I do it often enough that I would love one of these tools to make the job easier.

I used to  just keep a bent set of feelers in a spot I would remember, trim if needed.

I dont find it that hard to adjust, takes a bit to get used to , but once you got it..gets easier. Snug scewdiver helps & I use a 10mm box end..sixpoint if  possible.

If any of you can push a valve open with a .002 feeler you are a better man than me (tell me What kind of beer ?)

I addition to go-nogo, try this if you have the feel, as you slide out the feeler hold lightly tween 2 fingers and feel for drag & push in and out  and  feel if there is drag...

With tank off I think it is like a 20 min -1/2 hr job..

 I sorta enjoy doing it..nailing them down just right feels good... sorta like making a good shot at pool or darts..
