Hello from Israel.

Hello everyone,

A new member from Israel.

Even though I have signed about 2 months ago, I got my bike last week.

Have bought the bike on EBAY in USA and shipped it overseas to Israel.

I have read with fascination most of the threads, and frankly I am very proud to join this forum.

My Japanese friend will be in Israel on Thursday - shes touring the country for 2 weeks!

Welcome, and you surely know the rules - post pictures asap!!!  ;D ;D

And since I'm ignorant about the middle east, are there many motorcycles there or is it mostly scooters and mopeds! All I have ever seen is of Israel is news and that is not a very good picture of how it really is I don't believe.

Hello all.

I live in Haifa, ( http://www.haifa.muni.il/Cultures/en-US  ) in northern Israel.

To own a bike in Israel is not easy due to all the taxes Etc,  I can elaborate more about it if you are interested.

My bike some sort of a puzzle to me.

It has a K6 VIN but the looks of K7.....

I bought it on EBAY and shipped it overseas to Israel.

Vintage vehicles over 30 years old have some benefits on the insurance premium up to 75% !!! but has some limitation like diving is prohibited sunday to Thursday between 0700 and 0900,  and have to pass MOT tests twice a year.  If you would like more info,  I will be happy to oblige.

Wow nice bike!! You are right it looks like a K7 -very clean though! How does it ride? Out of curiosity how much does it cost to ship from the US to Israel? I only ask as I know its ~$800 from NY, USA to Europe.

Andy,

I have shopped around and got offers from 620$ up to 2000$.

The best offer was 620$ which included crating (450$ from other shipper) documentation, export licence handling and ocean freight to Israel,

So far the only damage is a broken center stand mount which I have to configure how to repair.  Might be broken during the land shipment to the port.

Seems to me that I need a new set of steering stem bearings.
On EBAY they are listing only the bearings and I need the steering stem washer and the all the worn parts.
Can someone point me to a reasonable priced store for these parts?

Jona, you can look in the Good Guys section of the site to find a reputable supplier for your bearings. You said there are only certain days and hours you can ride. Is this due to the age of the bike, or is it all Motorcycles?

Hi,

All vintage vehicles that are registered as vintage are restricted to these regulations. There are pro's and con's of course and banning driving 2 hours in the morning Vs the insurance price (75% deduction) is worth it in my opinion.  There are more restrictions such as not allowing to use the vehicle for business and a few more that I can live with.

The classic CB750 (AKA Charlie Brown,  as my daughter decided to nickname it :D) was a dream of mine since I was young and now I have finally made it .

The bike needs some TLC which a friend of mine is helping me with,  I am not a mechanic nor have I a shop to work at,  and the current issue is the steering stem bearings that needs to be replaced in the near future.

I will search at the "Good people" thread and hopefully find the parts there.

I hope that I have answered  most of your questions,  feel free to contact me.  Sorry if my English have some misspelling etc, (English is not my first language....)

I have family living in Israel. A brother in Rehovot and a sister in Kiryat Ono. He has a Suzuki 650 single cylinder. I'm not sure how old it is, but I think less than 10 yrs. but more than 5.

A word of caution.

The bike has suffered some damage during shipping.
The shipper ignores any responsibility to the damage,

Hi Jona, I have a K7 and the carbs on your bike appear to be from a 76 or earlier bike. The tach on your bike also has a redline of 9.5k, mine is 8.5k. I had to go check mine to make sure. The black fork legs may be something a previous owner did or maybe from an F bike. Other than that it looks like a K7.

I've got a K8 and your seat and side covers look VERY familiar.
Can't be sure about the tank without a closer look since the paint schemes were so similar.
The seat for sure has that K8 stepped look.
