Need Parts Interchangability For SL350K2
« on: October 27, 2007, 06:14:16 PM »

My upper triple tree piece (the clamp, the bridge or whatever you want to call it) is broken where it clamps both fork tubes and I can't seem to find one on ebay for the 72' (different from the K0). I did find one for a 74' CL360 but I don't know if the fork tube sizes are the same or if the spacing of the tubes, in reference to the stem, is the same or not. Anybody have input here? ??? :-\

Bill, try using www.ebay.co.uk and search 250K which we had by the 1,000's and, apart from capacity, is identical to the road going 350 (never had the CL so cant be sure on differences). If seller wont ship I will happily act as Middle man

Bill,

Have you used Service Honda's website? When you get to your bike on the parts diagrams, highlight the part you are interested in then go to the top and click on search - where used. Kinda simplied explanation but I can't get on right now to give a better explanation. I can walk you through it if you'd like. I have used this method recently to cross reference NOS parts that were listed on EBay for bikes other than my 750F0 such as a new fuse box for a 400, a part for a 550, and a part for a 500T.

Thanks for that Bryan, I might give that a try. The bike I'm trying to get the bridge for, is an SL350K2 and I was wondering what other, if there is one) model might work in it's place. I appreciate your offer also. I'll let you know if I turn anything up and need assistance. ;)

Thanks for your offer and info Jerry. I have tried a few times to check out the Service Honda deal in the past, but not lately. When I get a chance I may give it a go again and see what happens. Thanks again. ;)

My CB350K4 parts manual says the fork top bridge P/N is 53231-317-701, so I guess you have to look for a CB350K2 bridge part number.

If I'm not wrong, the reason why many people broke the clamps was because they forgot to install a washer that goes in between to avoid over-torqueing. That washer has a "bite" in one of the sides where it contacts the fork tube, so you better go with the original part as the thickness is also important.

Sez 50 Euro so $75 plus shipping

Whoa! :o Bryan, you've been busy and I want to thank you for your efforts.  ;) If I'd had done it, I'd still have to figure out the Euro Dollar Conversion too! Think I'll check out the possibility of the XL250/350 parts on ebay first, unless I can successfully (and accidentally) find an SL piece. ::) Again, your efforts are REALLY appreciated. ;)

Thank you for that Raul, I'm trying to check all the possibilities. I'm sure you are right about the "overtorqueing and washer thing". Sometimes folks just don't pay attention to what they are doing. :-\ Just another example of "More Is Not Always Better".
