Ever ride your SOHC to Sturgis??
« on: October 29, 2007, 08:46:21 PM »
First time I went was in 76, on my green 73 750. that was the year I got it.

Went quite a few times between 76 and 87.

Man there used to be a lot of quick singlecams running around back then gobs of 836's..900's.. a few Cobra motors.. Used to be some wild bikes I remember a CBX around 81 that had about a 6 inch slick on it and would sometimes be losing traction at 80 mph in second or third gear..!!

 Ah the good old days..

I had my 750F in Sturgis in 2001 (and Daytona in 1976). Even though I'm close at 425 miles I put in on a trailer along with the 2001 Fat Boy. Got a wild hair up my ass. My current riding buddy and I attended for the first time. He didn't have a bike yet and hadn't ridden before. I gave him a few quick lessons on the 750F and we headed out. Don't know for sure which I trusted less at the time, the 750F's electrical system or my buddy riding it. Damn clutch cable let go just as we were entering Custer State Park. I hadn't planned on letting him ride my new Fat Boy too but fortunately for him I had to get the Honda back to Spearfish without the use of the clutch. He got so damn confident riding both bikes he bought a new 2002 VTX1800 the next spring for his first bike and we haven't stopped since.

I gotta say that it felt pretty damn good riding the old 750F down main street surrounded by all the Harleys. I didn't have the muffler on the 4 into 1 and with the cam it sounded pretty convincing.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I've riden mine to Sturgis before.  Oh wait! That's Sturgis MICHIGAN!... Never Mind!  :-[
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
