0000 Steel Wool and chrome polish. Put the chrome polish on the the steel wool, rub, repeat.

Ordered my pipes from Benji today. I ordered the tuneable so will have a seam and won't be as good looking but I hope this allows the exhaust system to be the last one I buy.

I was in two minds about getting the repackable system, I decided not to in the end because
a/ I'm not going to be using the bike enough for it to be wearing out anytime soon, and
b/ in my line of work I have a number of top class stainless steel welders I can turn to if I ever do need it cutting open for repacking

Benjie's... Damn, they're spendy. However, stainless is forever. Also, IMHO, the 4-2 looks and sounds better on a relic bike than the 4-1. 4-1 makes it sound like some darn newfangled crotchrocket contraption. bah. Did I mention they're spendy? WTH, it's only a couple hundred more than the Kerker. Maybe next time.

Kerker... Good reputation but they are still steel and cost almost as much as 2 mac pipes. Dennis Kirk does offer an easy financing plan. See above regarding that 4-1 sound. Bike looks lopsided with one pipe.

Mac... Whadda ya want for $300? A nice budget-oriented alternative to rotten 30+ year old plumbing. Makes bike look and sound like a newfangled crotchrocket contraption, if that's what you're in to. New exhaust for less than the bike cost... What a novel concept.

My 550K had a rusty leaky 4-2 of unknown origin. Sounded sorta ok if you didn't listen too close. Looked like crap. Also looked like one baffle was rotted a lot more than the other. The parts bike had rotten stock 4-4 setup. No help there.
Got a slightly used black/chrome mac setup off feebay. On my porch for just under $90. Put it on and it looks better than what was there. Seems to be less engine clatter at idle.. maybe that rotten baffle. Bike looks lopsided. Bike sounds like some sort of a newfangled crotchrocket contraption. oh well. Whadda ya want for $90 ?
I will probably bead blast and paint the header sometime this winter.

I am hoping that the 4-1 look and sound are like a fungus. At first it makes you sick, then it grows on you.

Maybe Benjie will get an easy payment plan like Dennis by the time it wears out.

He does have an easy payment plan, 50% when you place the order, and 50% when they're ready for shipping, they don't come that much easier

Earning the cash to meet said payment plan, and stopping the wife/girlfriend/kids (or any combination of same) from mis-appropriating it, is where the difficulties start

pee shooter was a typo at first, but...

Anyway, thought i'd share something to you guys. Here's a new stainless exhaust design that we just finished. We just need to add carbon fiber heat shield by the rear shock area, add a bracket for the silencer and make some adjustments to the discs. We call it a " High side exhaust w/PEA TRAPP "

. The silencer is a disc based concept w/a dummy tip to give the silencer that pea shooter look.

Always been a big fan of twins specially the thump. We just bought two XS650 to add to project. Making the same exhaust set-up wouldnt be a problem. We should have something end of january.

When it comes to that X pipe i just sent them an email for pics of the system they offer for the Interceptor. Funny enough i have less options when it comes to the CB as well..Mind you at least theres aftermarket parts unlike the V4 stock cans only (or used Cobra F1s). But all i have found for the small CB so far is the Macs and Benjis set up. However neither really fit in with what i want to do so im more then likely going to be building custom baffled drag pipes.

Cause that tone is amazing!!! And I'm pretty sure you can't get a sound like that with a straight through.

Is that 500 or 550 in the video, cam'd and bored?

It sounds very healthy!!

I would love to have a set, but the funds are running short as well. I need to sell a few none CB bikes and parts.

Has anybody fit a set of Benji's to their CB400F??

I have a black canister Mac 4 into 1 on my 77 550K. It's an ugly POS. I hate it. The PPO (previous previous owner) removed the baffle from it, so it's basically open. Not only is it ugly, it sounds terrible too. I really hate it, and even though the bike isn't mint, it would look SOOOO much better with new pipes.

I love the look of Benjie's exhaust, but the price is way over my budget. Not saying they're not worth it... I just can't afford it; they're more than I paid for the whole bike! And my only other beef with them is they seem, in photos anyway, just too long. The photo of the second bike on his exhausts page has the tip of the exhaust close to the back of the rear tire. To me the end of the pipe should be more even with the back edge of the seat... guessing here but maybe a good 8 inches shorter?

Still, a beautiful system, and the new high level pipes you have are just gorgeous, the header curves especially.

I can't say that my Mac pipe is ugly, but I agree that the Benjie pipe is to long IMO. I even shortened my Mac 3-1/2". But I wish I could afford a set of 4 into 2 Benjie's, but I'd rather spend that money on getting the head ported & polished and a mild cam and still have money left over.

Hey that bike sound's just like mine

You'll find Badger that the tone gets harder and crisper when you put some load on the engine,

I got my mate to give mine a squirt up the road just so I could hear it properly, nearly wet my pants

When the old girl is rebuilt I'll try and get some vid clips posted $:-\$

To all those saying the pipes are too long, as they are custom made, I'm sure Benjie would able to make them shorter on request

To me though they look just right, replicating that sixties brit look perfectly

Yea sorry about that quality. I was in kind of a rush to do it because it's going to be raining here for the next week. I will get some better stuff up before too long. I bought the tank with that paint scheme and as soon as I find someone here in chicago to give me the paint I want it will change. As of now it's the 750 scheme in black/gold.

I can't play sound clips on my computer at work, but I can say that Badger's 550 sounds freakin' incredible in person. Great stuff.

I've owned a couple different MAC exhausts. They're crap, but the pipe is a useful starting point for something worthwhile. Some stainless perfed tubing, some exhaust packing, a few minutes with a brazing torch...
