Well, here I am, let the party begin
« on: October 18, 2007, 04:35:09 AM »
I just bought a CB650SC Nighthawk just for practice, thinking I was going to graduate to a VTX1300, now I am looking for a SOHC CB750. I think I will turn this into a cafe. I have not told the wife that my plans for world domination have been put on hold until I have a 70's 750, this 650 (cafe), and a nice, reliable, new, cruiser. I may just not tell her and partition off my 2/3's of the garage.

If there are any members in the Houston area, who know a bit about these, then I would be glad to meet you. Well, even if you don't know anything about them....

By the way, it runs fantastic, my friend who helped me load it onto the truck and bring it home in the rain could not believe how quickly it started, faster than his new sport bikes.

Ahhh....another one bitten by the SOHC bug.

Welcome
I guess I`m lucky to have a barn full of hay bales to hide the newly aquired projects that I stumble upon, the wife very rarely goes out there.
Although I have caught her counting bikes before " naw, honey I think you`ve miscounted" ::)

And I just picked up my new toy....
I called the dealer to find out what year she is as there is no VIN plate, and I don't have the title in hand, she is a 69/70. I stumbled upon her and she is a thing of beauty....

If it is a 69/70 then someone changed the air cleaner and side covers. They look like 72 or newer stuff. Experts please chime in!

Welcome to the forum, the people here are truly great and very smart.

There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.

They also changed the front indicator lights (post-76)  and the seat (pattern is post-72). However the front brake has no rainguard at the rear indicative of pre-73. A real mix! Look at the gauges - if pre-71 they will have lights inside the gauge and if on the handlbar then def not a pre-71. More pics would help  ;)

cheers

Interesting *runs fingers through goatee*..... All I know at this point is what the dealer told me, this is my first CB750. I should have the title in my hands tomorrow, but I will take more pictures and post.

The indicator lights are on the bars. I knew the side covers were from a newer model. I may have a mutt on my hands, but it is in pretty good shape none the less, and turned freely when power was put to the battery. I have not tried to start it yet as I have no time to tinker with it, I plan to yank the tank and pull the petcock to make sure the screens are good before I fuel her up and see how she runs.

If it is a mutt then it makes my decision that much easier to turn it into a cafe, especially when I start relocating things and grinding unnecessary items from the frame.
