how is that going to make me sick. In 1972 a new full size car cost what $5000? If you converted these prices over to modern 2007 prices I think you'll find that used they are still going for less. It wouldn't surprise me if $235 1972 dollars came out to $700+ 2007 dollars.

Yeah, well, in 1972 I was going to college and trying to live on about $350 per month from my GI bill.  Married with 2 kids.  I guess I did have a brand new CB350F that cost about $1200.

Very close, if not on the money (pun intended ;)).

What cost $235.00 in 1972 would cost $1130.09 in 2006.

Calculator I used only covered through 2006.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

What cost $235 in 1972 would cost $1130.09 in 2006.

What cost $199.95 in 1972 would cost $961.54 in 2006.

What cost $30 in 1972 would cost $144.27 in 2006

What cost $40 in 1972 would cost $192.36 in 2006.

What cost $99.00 in 1972 would cost $476.08 in 2006

I used an inflation calculator online that I used in collage before for some history papers I had to do.

$1600.00? That's how much they cost in Oz...............  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yes indeed.  That's the same price it cost in Toronto, Canada. $1600.00 CAD.

And, a new Triumph 650 was nearly $100 more expensive - even though the sales guy had to brush cob webs off the tank to show it.

I actually bought a brand new Gremlin in 1972. It was a '73 model and it cost me $1995. That was four dollars cheaper than a VW Beetle and the same price as a Ford Maverick.

In March, 1973 I bought my first new bike, a left over 72 GT380 Suzuki. $749 plus tax. Really wanted the 72 650 Yamaha, but couldn't swing $1049. Was making $400 a month.
