Sealed Beam replacement.
« on: October 28, 2007, 09:20:44 PM »
Hello all,

I am looking for a new cb750k headlight.

I prefere one with an option to replace bulbs,  which one is better?

Can you recommend a source that ships overseas with reasonable price?

Thanks,

Jona

G'Day Jona, if you've got the US style 3 piece headlight assembly, (chrome rings with inner and outer "cup" to hold the sealed beam unit in) you should be able to buy a H4 insert from most auto parts stores for around 30 bucks.

Don't go too big on the H4 globe if you have to run your headlight all the time, or it'll flatten your battery. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hello,

Solved the problem by installing a new headlight.

Found a compatible  headlight in a truck's shop....and it cost me about 20$ (including labor),  none of the cycle shop including the Honda importer had the headlight in stock.

The current headlight uses the normal bulb.  Can I replace it with a Halogen without overheating the harness?

Cheers,

Jona

Yeah mate, you should be fine, I wouldn't go much bigger than 75W on the high beam though. Cheers, Terry. ;D

If this will help anyone:  I bought a halogen sealed beam at Sears Auto for $8.99 plus tax (H6024).  It is made by Wagner and rated at 35W/60W.

Hard to get any cheaper than that for halogen!

Hope this helps someone,

John

I bought the same H6024 from Wal-Mart for $8.99, but, in the 50W/60W configuration. Installed on my 1978 CB550K for over 2 yrs now, no problems noted so far.

So are there many SOHC/4's in Israel guys? What about other bikes? I don't know all that much about Israel, to be honest? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hi Terry,

Unfortunately there aren't many SOHC bikes left in Israel.
Taxes and customs are very high, annual insurance is expansive so it all sums up to the sad fact that owning a bike is not easy here.

There about 85000 two wheeled vehicles in Israel (unofficial ),  most of them are scooters of all kinds.

There is a category for vintage vehicles, (at least 30 years old) in which you can get a much lower insurance premium  but you are obliged to some restrictions like not driving through morning rush hours etc.

I have imported my bike as a "vintage" and according to the vintage regulations because it fit my needs as a weekend fun bike.

I do wish that the officials will wake up and understand the contribution of two wheels to lessen the mayhem on the roads.  (we do not have so much space as in Australia...)

Cheers,

Jona
