air filters for a cb500
«

I haven't come across a replacement paper filter for my 500, so I bought an oil/foam filter off ebay for $26. Is there anything I need to know before I make the switch? As in changing the carb set up etc.

I had a K&N Oil & Foam filter on my 500 back when. It offered no performance increase (and hence needed no rejetting etc).
I buy my paper filters from David Silvers.

I use the Uni 4055 foam filter in my 550s. While they do seem to lean the mixtures a smidge (I'm at sea level), I have found any need to change jetting or carb adjustments based on that change alone. However, if other changes have also been made to the bike.....
Cheers,

does that UNI4055 fit inside the air filter box, just like the stock paper element?

Yes, it is a direct replacement. Uni Nu-4055. You should get the oil and cleaner aerosol, too. Then it is just clean, re-oil and reuse at regular tuneup intervals.
You can get the filter for about $25 if you shop a bit.
