Newb Question- Air Filter Change on '75 CB750F ?
« on: November 04, 2007, 10:40:43 PM »
I have a K&N filter for my newly-aquired CB750F0 that I want to install.  My Clymers manual says that there are wingnuts on the bottom of the airfilter housing,  but there aren't any that I can see.

How do I change the airfilter on an early F model?

Thanks in advance!
John

John, the airboxes on some models do not have wing nuts at the bottom of the airbox. Instead they have nuts moulded into the bottom. Two long bolts - one on each side of the airbox - screws into these nuts from the top thus holding the bottom and top sections together. Lossen these bolts from the top using a 10mm socket or ring spanner - be careful because the molded nuts in the bottom half can fall out. The bottom half can then be removed and the element replaced. Hope this helps, Pat

Thank you Pat- that is exactly what I needed to know!  I do see the nut heads on the bottom of the airbox.

You may need to hold the bottom bolts, too.  On my bike (K8, so it may be different) top side is 10 mm and bottom is 12 mm.  I use a socket on the bottom; much easier to get in the recessed part and hold it.
