I never though of it this way.  This spring I should think about taking an advanced riding course.

Great article, Cleveland.  I had never thought of it that way, either.

I'm not sure that's what folks have meant when they say I'm a bit slow... :(

If we could all get some training from that guy, we could really have some fun on the old sohc's. I have noticed some of what he was talking about but didn't realize how the brain actually used the information before.  8)

Ned (another forum member) emailed it to me.  Makes me wonder what else I am doing wrong.  Probably everything.  ;) :D

Well I understand what he is saying about fear. When I was a kid I knew an old factory dirt rider who said "if you think about the corner, you will miss the corner". It may be one in the same thing. In the Military they teach pilots to react instinctivley and they do that by repetition. There may be two seperate processes going on in the brain. When I took my course they made us make steep turns to prove the tires will hold. They said many riders try to brake instead of swerve around an obsticle and they run right into it. They don't trust the bike to hold. Which is fear I guess.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?
