Well not a CR but it is from that era and it is coming slow but it is getting there:

One of Gordon's framekits.

Very sturdy, but light, 20 m/m front axle.

Pic's are taken some weeks ago, in the meantime waiting for the light alloy wire wheels with genuine Dunlop TT100 tires. Frame is almost ready for blasting and painting.

Hey TG,
Hope not!! No the meaning of this latest bike is that it is meant as a tribute to the "iron men" back in the days. These men did not have the choice of tyres we have nowadays. But they performed incredable with these pieces of rubber. The real bike was used in 1973 in the 24 hour race in Oss, the Netherlands, and I have come in contact with one of the drivers, his co-pilot was my hero of that era.
So it will not be used in competition, but in the odd trackday or parade's.
Then again, these are new fresh rubbers made in Japan with modern technology and, hopefully, some modern compounds.

I had always heard that you should look for British TT100s vs. Japanese TT100s. Is that still true today? How much different could they be?

That was the word in the 70's but i think now the Japanese have it all sorted. I used to use the K181's here in OZ, they were identical to the TT100's and back then the british ones were the ones to get.

Have to do with the Japanese! Like I said they'll do for the odd demo and if not, will change them to something stickier, I quess. But I try to build the bikes like they were build, back in the days. Think it is not appropriate to put some modern Y-spoke Marchesini's and USD forks in 'our' chassis.
There is no real race class to compete in so no use in going that direction. Love to show people how it was done, and love the way they react on it.

Damn, thats quite a building!! Too bad Dunlop moved production to Japan, but it's good to see the building put to good use and not just torn down, especially after sitting vacant for 20 years.

Dont you have a class that you can race a CB750 over there in NL/BE?

Just wondering.....

BTW, for whatever it's worth, there's going to be a "post classic" class at the Manx GP this year, open to before 1981 1000c.c., could be the perfect class for a big bore 750.

Hey TG,

Good to hear from you. In Holland it is impossible to race a CR750. In Belgium or Germany you can.
But I am not looking to go racing, other than the odd trackday or parade.
Building a endurance bike, not enough real tuning involved. Have a few engines left, so wondering maybe the next one will be a all out high performance 750. 12.5:1 CR, 35 mm intake valves, 315 cam from Dynoman, 31 CR's.

Yes, Alexander van Dyyk (the spelling might be wrong?) won Daytona on Tuesday, and was a very close second Monday at AHRMA races. Also, won one race at Roebling Road prior to the event, with a 2nd in the other race that day. I heard that he had a tough time getting it off the line. He probably used the horrible Honda CR750 kit gear box with first gear good for 85MPH!

Lex van Dijk is a very,very good rider with a lot of succes at Daytona. Has won the BOTT a few years back with the famous Britten. He uses a CR750 build by OVER racing. I remember these very long 1st, 'cause had to change a few clutches along the way.

Am curious about the pictures, thanks in advance.

Hi.With all due respect,I must disagree that the CR gearbox is horrible.I have one in my unit.Now,when I ride on the street it is tedious to get rolling.However,when I have road raced the bike,the close ratios become a blessing.The stock 1st gear now becomes useless at any circuit that does not have any ridiculously slow corners,whereas the CR first gives you a full 5 usefull speeds.I gladly accept the less than steller start for an extra usefull gear every lap.Not only that,I ride smiling inside with the knowledge that as long as I treat it nice,the tranny is an appreciating asset tee hee. Rock On
