Thought Id share yesterdays ride with you....
....I ride to work every day - only 8 miles round trip but some twisty roads usually congested which is why I leave early in the morning (6.30am) to try and beat traffic....I vary between the K4 and K2 (cafe). Yesterday with temps in the low 30`s and the sun coming up I took the K2. Nice ride in and as I was sitting in traffic a guy winds down his window and says "nice bike, what year?" - the most common question I get all the time.....roll on a little further up the line and I see a minivan with the passenger craning his neck to see the bike and pointing it out to the driver....they wait for me to get ahead of them to get a better look.....
...the ride home is always better than the ride in....usually around 7pm or later and traffic is light....I warm the bike up and then take off.....feels good. The K2 has a stock motor and at 50,000 miles runs great pulling well at high RPMS...I usually keep it in 4th, +4000rpm and lean down over the tank, hands on the tomesselis, leaning into those tight corners....this always puts a smile on my face....I zip along Centre Street, a long straight that allows a clear run....and come to some red lights pulling up next to a new black Merecedes...the guy rolls down his window and says "is that a sandcast?"....no its a 72 I say...."nice bike!".....light turns green and Im gone....get home with a huge smile on my face.....great way to end the day!
Riding the K2 versus the K4 is very different - the K2 feels lighter (no center stand), and feels nimbler (perhaps due to the drop bars combined with the sticky Bridgestone compared to the harder wearing Dunlops on the K4).....if you ever have a chance to get a K2 get one!!
Thanks for listening,
cheers
