Will a 400F engine fit in a 350F frame?
« on: November 10, 2007, 11:32:36 AM »
I need another project like a need a second wife, but was offered a very nice one owner 73 350F. Very well maintained but has sat for 10-15 years. Has 29,000 miles, so am wondering if engine is used up. Have a friend that has a 7000 mile 400F engine that was removed from a wrecked bike that I can have for next to nothing. Will it fit and will the 4 into 1 exhaust work?

The factory 400 exhaust might have problems because the exhaust hangers are different for the 350 and 400F frames.  I'm sure something could be fabbed, but if it was me, and the original exhaust was in good shape, I would use it on the 400 engine.  Sure, you'll give up a horse on the top end of the powerband, but it'll look mostly right.

Thanks guys!. Would prefer stock exhaust, but the 4/4 mufflers are pretty much DOA. Going to go check it out further. Glenn
