CB750K Rear Bearing Retainer Question

Getting ready to replace the rear hub bearings on my 750K4. The Honda shop manual states: Remove the rear wheel bearing and remove the bearing from the wheel hub. After reading past threads on the subject I'm still not clear if the retainer has right or left hand threads. The retainer in question is identical to the one in the photo. Which way do I go?

On a 750, the threads are normal (turn counter clockwise).  However, drill out the peen marks (next size larger bit, just hit it with the drill to make the metal smooth) or you will ruin your hub.

Also would recommend that before you insert the new one that you get a tap with the same pitch and run it through the threads.  Basically chase them to remove any grime or build up.

If you cut a piece of flat metal near the thickness of the groove, and just smaller than thread, you can grab that with a large crescent and turn retainer out... if you are careful you can re-use.

It does not have to be supertight, just hold bearing in.
