Clutch nut on '71 CB750
« on: April 08, 2005, 08:07:00 PM »
Need some help, folks.  I picked up a 750 that has been sitting long enough to fuse the clutch plates and friction disks.  I started disassembly but I don't have the special tool for the clutch nut.  Any tips besides the hammer and chisel?  Also is it a standard directional thread that loosens counter clockwise?

Thanks for any help you can offer- Hoosier Tom

Worked on em for years and never had the tool. As far as i remember its a standard thread but there is a "dished washer" under the nut and a tabbed washer as well if memory serves

G/Day Tom. It is not too difficult to make a tool from pipe and then welding a nut on the end so that a wrench and socket can be used to undo the clutch nut. A tension wrench can then be used to tighten the nut when you reassemble oyur clutch. You could also sacrifice a suitable socket in order to make a tool. Pat, from Nth Qld Aust.
