Problem disengaging the Clutch on CB360 1974
« on: November 08, 2007, 02:57:44 PM »
Is there a part that wears out to disengage the clutch, sometimes it clicks and gets stuck, then I have adjust the screw near the clutch housing to get it back. I tried removing the clutch cover to look inside, but one screw is stuck.

Is the clutch cable an OEM Honda one? The aftermarket cables have a shorter inner cable that once installed and adjusted, pulls the release mechanism too far so that the balls in the release mechanism ride out of their ramps, jamming the mechanism in the partially-engaged position.

the bike only has 4800 miles on it, I think its OEM. but not sure, however it was adjusted so the close opened more then needed, I fixed that and had not had the problem since, but still I don't trust it. I'd like to get the one stuck philips screws out to remove the cover, still trying but the screw is pretty gummed up from the impact driver already.

Thanks again

You can always take a dremel and turn that screw into a flat head and hit it with the impact driver.

Also, a new cable should clear it up. If you have cable lube laying around try that- if you don't and you're trying to avoid spending money I would recommend buying the cable as you will spend about 8-9 bucks on the lube. If it's not so much money then grab the cable and the lube :):) That stuff is great.
