Not positive yet.... I figure I will probably lay out another 2-500 bucks to get it running how I want.

Congrats on the find Scott.

Those engines are supposed to be quite bullet proof.

Does this mean that you'll cafe/customize your 750 and leave this as your tourer?

Here are some pics:  It is in decent(OK) shape but will have to be gone through completely.  It is missing one of the side covers and I need to buy the rear seat for it.

Even has the tool set !!!

And the coolest thing I hve seen on this yet!!!(probably VERY common though)

Congrats, and thanks for the pix, definately a unique and cool bike!

I understand that stator problems on those bikes are common. I might be a good idea to start looking for how to access the stator and voltage regulator, if you're going to start work before year's end.

All best!

That's a nice jigger mate, I've ridden the CX500 a few times, and always walked away impressed!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Had a CX500. Poor man's Moto Guzzi. Always wished it had more power. The CX650 cured that! Sold it with 58,000 miles, last I knew it was still going at 80,000+!

I was pretty excited... I was looking at cx500's because I wanted a nice watercooled bike for commuting to and from work.  From what I read the 650's get about the MPG and have almost 20 more hp... WOOHOOO....

I love the Honda air pressure gauge... It comes with a nice Honda holder too...

..and as for my wife sitting down... I will actually have to source a rear seat(there were 2 this morning on E-Bay) I am not too worried about finding one.  I am happy to have the rear case instead because it seems that it is harder to find.

Check out www.choppercharles.comgreat info on the cx50/gl500 and 650 bikes. just change the oil and clean the carbs fire it up and check charging system. You have to remove motor to get to stator, cam chain, waterpump seal :o :o :o :o.  great bikes paid $50.00 for a 82 gl500 rode it for a year and 10,000 miles and sold it for $800.00 only changed oil, clutch, and cleaned carbs ;D

Something like that would be about the only way i would find myself on a Goldwing style bike unless i returned my GS1100G back to its touring spec..but thats unlikely.

This bike will allow me to ride the whole winter in comfort AND it keep the wifey happy.  I really like how it converts into a 1 up bike with the trunk. The handlebars SUCK on this bike though.

The other thing I though was cool is that the 650 version can do 115-120mph  :o

I saw a genuine factory CX650 turbo for sale today in mint condition ($5500.00) and I must be getting old, because it doesn't look any where near as fugly as it did 20+ years ago, when it was new and I was young.................  ;D
