Metal tag thingy

When did they stop/start putting the metaly tag thingy on the steering tube.... tube on the CB 750 SOHC's?

Thats exactly what I mean. I am looking at one and there is no VIN plate, but it looks like there never was one there.

Then it has been removed or is an early 69. If its early the  last numbers of the serial # should be around 10,000 or less.

I know they had tags by Nov 69 but dont know when they started.. so is serial # between 7k and 11k ?

VIN Is engraved in the steering stem on the opposite side of where the tag would be.  SOmeone may have lost is/ground it off at some point, or have removed it for some fraudulent reason.  Look at the actual VIN on the other side and make sure it matches the title.

If its a UK model Vin Plates were not fitted till 76/77
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
