Chrome swingarm
« on: November 16, 2007, 05:58:05 am »
Anybody ever have a CB750 swingarm chromed?  How much does it cost?  I am trying to determine whether it would be cheaper to buy a good used one or have my stock one chromed.
It took 10 years but she's finally done!

Plenty of chrome swingarms pop up on Ebay - this week one went for $60 and it was in good shape. So yes it can be done.

cheers

I called the other day to have mine chromed, they quoted about $120.
They said they would really need to see it though to give me a good price. They based it off of price they have quoted for the Harley Softtail swing arms.

Yeah poeple have done it.  Looks pretty good depending on the bike setup.  I would call around to some of you local places and ask them what it might cost.  It shouldn't be all that much, but its been a while since any of my friends have anything chromed.

The chrome itself isn't too expensive, its the polishing beforehand that puts the cost up.
The steel has to be polished totally smooth to get totally smooth chrome. $120.00 will get you a shiney swing arm, but you probably wont want to get too close or you'll see flaws

Call Blakley's over in Dayton, he should be able to quote you a price. (937)274-8448  3102 N. Dixie Dr., Dayton, OH 45414

He did an outstanding job on all my chrome....  You are more than welcome to come over and take a peak at it....

Its less work than a Softail swingarm..

Pre polish if you want it right, they will never care as much as you do.

Dont ask for price without showing a sample, not a good use of time for either party. (unless they are very familiar with the exact part) hard to tell where the real work is in a pic.

Blakley's Polishing has chromed enough CB 750 swingarms to give you a good est. as long as the swingarm is in decent shape.  The reason I like Blakleys is the shop is a polishing shop first and foremost.  I have had three bikes work of stuff (chrome and polishing) that he has been extremely picky with and always exceeded my expectations!

If you are worried about wasting his/your time send him a picture, the internet is a great tool!
