Shhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Be very quiet, those rims are about 5 miles from me ;)   If anyone is serious about bidding, PM me and I'll tell ya my max bid. That way we won't drive each others cost up (this worked well for me and another member here so far on this auction). Probably won't matter anyway as these always seem to end up at Carpy's :P :)

Rock Store, if your rear disc Lester is 18" and has a build date stamp of 77 or 78 then you really should sell it to me for a buttload of cash. It would sure beat painting my Comstar black to better match the dual-disk, 5 bolt pattern Lester I have up front ;)  Seriously, those rear disc Lesters are hard as heck to find so I wouldn't mind helping to fund any current project, or add trade incentive with anything you might want more.

No worries on the auction, Rock Store. We look out for each other and posting it here was the right thing to do ;)   If your near the Bay Area, I've got a '78 SS frame that I've been using for mock-up. Helmet tabs are ground off but otherwise in good, straight shape. Can't bear to toss it so if you want it to hang those Lesters on, it's yours :)

bigjim,Its not a matter of ones own taste & what the projectv calls for, thses Lesters are from an era when aluminum wheels were no available so a nostalic staus overhangs the Lesters they are from an area of stuff guys wanted & some could not afford them at that, sure they are heavy, but they wont crack, bend ,or disentegrate upon normal use & are maintenance free & looked way cool back then.I ran many Borranis ,Akronts, Dunlop Rodelli wheels with stainless spokes & without sure thewy are the ampity of a certian Cafe Racer no doubt about it & I use to love to polish them up & their light.I was going to put the Lesters on my Tracy 550 project & decided the stock wheels were just what I wanted. My current 900ss project has Magnesium wheels & hub on her & when UPS showed up I thought the boxes were empty ,no #$%* their strong & light.Anyway the Lesters have their own place in the Nostalic Cafe Racers day & still are a sweet choice for many guys,& thats why Im still holding on to the rare Lesters .later...RS

No worries Rock Store, in the past 6 years I've only been able to toss one part, and that was a chain guard that was utterly destroyed when a master link let loose. The frame will stick around until I, or someone else, has a use for it ;)   Thanks for the good words :)

If Carpy's seen them Sean, either back away now or put in a big snipe at the end, (you do have "bidnapper", yeah?) he's desperate for that kind of stuff for his bikes, and is probably still "cashed up" from that $15K sale. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Guy wouldn't take my midrange offer to end auction early. Said they were worth a LOT more than that. Price was sitting at $152 with a day left on the auction so he either wimped out thinking he wouldn't get what he wanted for'em, or got a significant offer and sold them elsewhere. He won't answer emails so we'll never know. Pooh!  :P

Ha ha, I could have bought a complete F1 rolling chassis with Lesters for 300 bucks last week Sean, but he was in Adelaide and wouldn't ship it to me? Oh well, I don't like 'em all that much anyway............  ;D

Awwwww....rub it in, mate ;)Finding a rear Lester in stock 18 size(drum or disc) hasn't been easy, which is why this auction appealed to me. Everybody and their inbred cousin seemed to be throwing 16 rears on, which is all I ever run across. Goldwing fronts fit fine and litter the landscape over here, even found one with 5 bolt disc pattern to fit my F2, CHEAP!

I'm really wanting a 18 rear disc Lester and am willing to even buy a set, just to get the rear, if the price is right. If you see one at your swap meet that is 18 w/disc and has 77-78 build date stamped on it, snap it up and I'll release your JPNS-1 from postal prison, haha.

Ha ha, well I went looking for that auction to see if it was still going, but can't find it mate? Hey I need a stock goldwing front wheel with the aluminum rim, let me know if you see one Sean?

I only spent 3 hours at the Bendigo swap meet yesterday, it was stinking hot (around 100 deg F) in the morning, and then there was a cloudburst and i was soaked to the skin in about 30 seconds? Bugger it, I ran to the car, and came home! I did manage to pick up a NOS chrome 4 into 1 pipe though, which was a great pick-up for $196.00 (all I had in my wallet before I trudged back to the auto teller machine, ha ha!)

Here's a pic illustrating why I really needed a new pipe! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yer neighbors should have taken up a collection and bought you that new pipe, just to have a little peace :D :D   Love that bike, Terry. You stayed true to the '70's mods with that one, right down to the tank. So many projects I forget, is that the K9 junkyard dog re-envisioned?

Here's a early pic of the Sumbich with mis-matched shoes. Also, a pic of your ginormous JPNS1 sitting atop the '76 750F roller that joeb dropped off today(what's on it will get swapped to the F1 in the background. Wintertime ride, woohoo!). "The seat for the little girl a Lester rear disc". Let me know when you've collected the ransom :D

Geezus Sean, that seat is huge! (lucky I've got a big arse, ha ha!) That pic is of my "K1 Kruiser", the re-born K9 "Junkyard Dog" project is "next cab off the rank" once I finish the K3 and F2 resto's, phew! If I see an 18 inch lester I'll let you know, but there are prolly more on your side of the pond than here? Never fear though, I'm not really a lester fan, so if I see one, it's yours!  ;D

Hey Fuzzy, I only use those drag pipes for "test rides" on bikes with no pipes, there's no baffles in 'em so they are painfully loud! I did take the K1 with the new 836 engine for a run yesterday with 'em after I returned from the swap meet, it was a good ride, (100 Mph in 3rd gear is really good........) but the noise was horrible, and I was just lucky that there were no cops around, they woulda kicked me off the road with those pipes! ;D

Hey Scondon.

For the uninitiated, could you differentiate which is the Lester Mag, and why they are better than Comstar?

That F is looking sweet.

I have more questions about it but I'll pm you on them.

I have more questions about it but I'll pm you on them.

The Lester mag is the black wheel on front, Comstar is a bit hidden by the rear disc and is the stock wheel on 77-78 750F's. Can't say that the Lester is any "better" than the Comstar and only a pound or two lighter. I've already got a stock looking '78 750F rebuild so am moving as far away from stock on this bike which is why I'm looking at Lesters. The plus side of the Lester up front is that it has 2.15 width as opposed to the Comstar 1.85.

Got your PM and will reply in a bit :)

Proof of why it has been such a pickle to ship via USPS ;) You will be able to fit all the electrics, a full size battery, and a mini fridge under that bad boy. Get the right tank to go with it and it'll be awesome ;D

No worries Sean, thanks for that, and I've got the tank already, that NOS 32 litre aluminum endurance tank on the racer project, it will make that seat look about right, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
