Replacing spokes two at a time is simple and effective
« on: November 18, 2007, 08:00:56 AM »
My basket case has a very, very nice rear hub but that’s all in the rear wheel department. So I purchased a rat wheel (properly represented) from fellow forum member where the freight was more than the wheel itself. For $29 I got a pack of spokes from Partsnmore and replaced each spoke on the wheel two at a time cleaning the rim and hub as I worked. With the rim not being too awful bad and hub in respectable condition (after heavy brake drum rust removal) the wheel is quite nice. I was really surprised when I had a tire mounted just how true the rim is. So, replacing the spokes one at a time is a cheap, safe workaround until a bigger bag of money falls on my head to finish my basket hub.

I wondered if that could be done. I have a 16" wheel that I need to relace too.
