Brought the X6 home from storage yesterday. Didn't get any better looking. Appears to be all there, but heads and jugs were removed for some unknown reason. Mufflers were so oil covered they cleaned up beautifully. Pray for me... I'm goin' in.

Didn't mean to take so long to get to this one. $:-\$ I'm looking forward to this one too! You see, I got my wheels blown off by an X-6 back in 68' (on my 66' CB72) and, since I'm building a Super Hawk (I know that my CB72 was a 250 and the CB77 is a 305 but hey, I need all the help I can get to take on an X-6 $:-\$ )...............

Just kidding, looking forward to seeing the X-6 getting turned around.

Hey, there ya go!

I never did beat that X-6! I'd go back, do some more to the old 250 Hawk, try it again and get beat again (but each time, I didn't get beat as bad. Don't know if I'd ever beat him but I sure tried!)!

It IS good to see an X-6 getting some new life though.

Chapter Two- All the chrome is at the plater and almost all the NOS replacement parts are in hand. Still need petcock, handlebars (originals have the s++t bent out of them), and a 45 tooth rear sprocket. Took the engine to a 40 year Suzuki dealer this week for rebuild. He has all the NOS parts (almost). Always almost! Called me yesterday and said the engine is in suprisingly good shape but every fork in the transmission is bent and almost every gear is trash. Appeared every shift was at 9000 RPM without the clutch. Said almost every one he has done looks this way and has used up most of his NOS gears and all his forks. The hunt begins.

Don't know why the pictures turned out fuzzy and transferred entire file. Don't think I will do another Suzuki. This one was included in the package deal with the Benly s90. Only did it since x6s seem to be collectable, was complete but rough, and was one of the first 1000 built. Parts are too hard to find. Found a dealer in our area (Action Cycles in Alliance, Ohio) who has been a Suzuki-Yamaha dealer since 1972 and has NEVER thrown anything away. Had almost all the NOS parts needed. Also did the engine rebuild. x6s were the 68 Plymouth Road Runner of cycles. Fast, cheap ($650 new), and expendable. Ran the s%@^t out of it until it blew and go find another one. Most lived fast and died young.

I remember Leno did a bit on it on his site. He wanted one as well. 6 gears must be have been a novelty back then, like amps that go to 11.

Wish I hadn't looked at this. Makes me want to kick myself for not taking a friend up on an offer to make some room in his garage and sell me his black one for $500 a couple of years ago. Not nearly as rough as the first photos or nearly as nice as the last, but a lot of fun. I suppose if I had I've kicked myself for being homeless with two cool bikes. Nice work.
