1973 750 gas overflow problem

Hey guys, why do my carbs leak gas so bad if I turn the gas valve on??  I just got gas all over my garage.  It has always done this when I used to ride it. I would have to turn valve off really fast when I stopped.  Any suggestions??  The gas is coming out of the float bowls where the hoses attach.  Thanks guys!!

It could be many things.... floats not adjusted right, floats stuck.... Is it all of the carbs or just one?  My carbs were leaking because of a bad sync.

if you mean the overflow hoses,check to make sure your stand pipes arent cracked,if they are they will leak like a sieve.

My 71 used to do that. A new needle and seat in the appropriate carb stopped the leakage. I marked the drain hoses with colored tape so I could identify the offending leaker.

YEs...this is a PIA.  As a matter of fact, I had trouble with my 3rd and 4th cylinder carbs leaking.  Fix one, the other would leak and so on.  What I found out is that i needed to adjust the float height about 1.5mm to get them in spec at 26mm.  Looks to have fixed the issue.  Now...if I could just find some time to rebuild the front caliper.

Hey al,l I built a second bike a few years ago 750K chopper and the first two years I rode it like two or three times, because of the carbs leaking. I finnally  took them off and cleaned the float valve seats AND, replaced the floats. WOW!! got it and  between my other scoot I put like 8000 miles on.  Probably 1000 on the chopper, with no mre leaks. If you know witch one is leaking take the bowl off (gas off) now hold the float up lightly,  gas on if it dont leak its not your seat its your float setting. then you have to tweak the peton on the float best of luck.
