Clean, Shine Spokes
« on: November 19, 2007, 08:10:48 AM »
Now that the weather is turning ugly in Indiana, I'll spend my winter doing the little house cleaning things I've been avoiding. I've looked in FAQ's and Tips... Does anyone out there have any tricks as to cleaning and shining spokes? Anything other than grab some polish, rags, and beer...

Thanks,

BC

I've seen those mini-polishing balls from Mothers. I think I'll try that to polish. I cut a shop rag into 1" strips and used WD 40 on a few to get the initial crud off. Wish I had a pro type lift to get the thing up high so it's not so back breaking.

If you wotked for a Dairy you would be able to sit on one of them crate things..

I use a mechanic stool with rollers an the bottom, they are fairly cheap.. cheaper than a new back on ebay..

I've got a roll-around, but at 6'4" I still gotta bend down and the 61 yr. old back let's me know it after a while. What I'm doing now is working on the front so I just put a wood block under the frame to get the front wheel up while it's on the center stand, sit on a old rug, crack a beer, and have at it. The rear will be the pain cause you can only work from the bottom / back

I have the larger of the two mothers balls and mothers aluminum polish and it works wonders on my jeeps aluminum alloy wheels, but I'd be a bit worried about using it on my 750k's spokes.  I'd just be worried that the spokes would wear out the thing much faster and also that it wouldn't work as well as a simple handle polish.  Just my two cents.

I've got a can of Nevr-Dull and it is good stuff.

Hmmm..... Coffee table in living room = Divorce = Big$$$ = Ehhh... No.

WD40 and Mothers and cloth strips work fine, but I was just trying to be lazy and you guys always have such unique solutions to everything.

This is gonna take more beer than I thought......

Thanks!
