Anyone have a good idea how to get a stripped oil filter bolt out? I have tried everything but cutting it off!

Pipe wrench, Vise Grips, Weld a socket to the bolt, Try and hammer (gently) to the head of the bolt.

I meant to say - hammer a socket on the head of the stripped bolt.

Check the FAQ and check the archives (

). This is a common problem and there are good posts on the subject - though Greg has already given you a summary of the best solutions.

Try to drill a 1/8 hole through the remaining head.
Then put the drill bit through and use that as a purchase to relieve the tension .
IT Does work
