It's a pretty big field, isn't it...?  Looks good from 50 yards?

I've been down this road a few times.
If I can't tell where the owner lives,
I generally leave a note on the bike with my phone number.
Then some guy who probably doesn't own the bike
calls me and we settle on $50 and I pick it up
at night!--always at night.

How sad. Guess theres a story behind it for the owner but my ears hear, 'Nope I'd rather it sit there and rust than for you to have it'.   8)

I'm not saying steal it, but he sure doesn't deserve to own it. A friend of mine back in south eastern Ohio found 2 old 39/40 ford coupe's. Bodies still in good shape. He talked to the guy and said to name a fare price. The old kodger said they wern't hurting nothing out in that leanto<sp?. That summer there was a brush fire and everything was burned up. Then the jerk called my buddy to see if he still wanted to buy them. He did go and look but even the frames were warpped from the heat. All scrap.

You are forgetting they do own it and can do as they like with it! You dont have to like it.  I own a lot of stuff too  and I dont like people telling me what they think should be done with it.

I tell them, "I would rather have it &never use it, than Wish I had it & never be able to get it!"

Maybe when you talk to him next point out a quick list of what it needs and what That would cost nowadays.. and mention that a lot of shops dont work on them anymore..
