Scary project - please help explain what the goal is here
« on: November 14, 2007, 07:09:09 AM »
This is the front of the project (some kind of wooden front end that hardly seems highway safe)

This is the back of the project

Yep, the 750 is bolted to the front end which is constructed of wood.  Are we in the business of making bulldozers with our 750's now?

I'm sure it has a metal frame, probably some reminent of the VW Bug.  A true "woody" though!!
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Hope,

Could be the basic elements in a parade float.
Doesn't look like it steers (stears?) too well, though.
Or could have been built to carry around a large family member.

I posted this on a VW forum I used to frequent.  They sometimes see some hideous projects coming out of Floriduh.

Someone may have actually ID'd the purpose of the project

That is exactly what I thought it was.  The wood is simply to create a shell which the builder will fiberglass over.  I've thought about creating one of these vehicles for years but never had the time/money/space to do it.  They commonly use a VW front end with whatever bike you can get your hands on to power it.  Goldwings are often a popular choice because they have reverse.  Otherwise a system, usually using a starter from a car, has to be cleverly designed to be swung out of the way when reverse it not used.  That is, unless you like pushing your vehicle out of a parking spot in a busy lot.  Why have I wanted to build one of these?  Pure shock value and a whole lot of fun.

A mate of mine who was doing a military communications satellite course in the US, back in the 1990's, had a ride in one of those Kawasaki powered Tri-Magnums, and said the performance was phenomenal!

On the other hand, that thing on EBay looks like the kindest thing you could do is convert it back to a bike and just burn the rest....................  ::)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

As said by the others it looks like the start of a Tri mag project. Thanx to the one who posted the link theres a good chance there may be an Interceptor powered one taking shape next year using my 84 parts bike for the donor.

It's OK mate, we all understood what you meant, Unkie Ernie was just being picky. Now you have to stalk him for the rest of your days and wait for him to slip up, it's a "pisssing contest" don't ya know? Ha ha, cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks for the warning Terry, and coming from you, I'm suprised you didn't let him chew me up a while before you said anything, I've read several post from you and about you.  ;D ;D ;D
I'm still a newb around here so I don't want to give the wrong impression that I'm a complete boob from KY, actually I'm from Hammond,In., but moved here 10 years ago. Now that I've gotten an older Honda again I miss the bike shopping that can be found up there tho. :P

Hey I've never been to the US mate, but Kentucky is one of my "must see before I die" places in the world. I think of how wonderful that place must truly be, whenever I open a bottle of my favorite drink, ha ha! ;D
