Thanks for the kind word guys! After getting the body work back, made me want to get this bike finished even more! I spent some time out in the garage this afternoon and this is what I got accomplished:

I mounted the rear tire along with the drum brake support and the rear brake assembly including the brake pedal. Threw on the kick start arm, the shifter and a new engine bolt mounting kit from Yamiya. Threw on the fresh painted headlight bucket, still trying to decided what light to go with. Also put my VDO oil pressure gauge on:

It is a pretty nice little unit thanks to RenoBruce over on the GSResource board, he made me a deal on one for the CB and one for the GS 1000...

I need some help, what do you think I should do with my front fender? 1) Don't run it, find a brace and adapt it. 2) Powder coat it gloss black. 3) Chrome the piece. I am leaning toward the gloss black....

Big thanks to Paul at WBS Fabrication for shaping the fender for me yesterday! It was driving me nuts trying to get it right, I guess the right tools and a bit of experience make everything look super easy...

HELP, can one of you guys take a left and right picture of your stock footpegs and how they mount. I am fairly sure I have got them right but want to make sure. Anyone have an extra spring for the left peg? While cleaning the spring my wire brush attached to a drill grabbed it and destroyed it.....

Found the needed pics of the footpegs after doing a search on the SOHC-4 forum, this place is awesome. What do you guys think about the fender though? I need some imput....

are those cyclex rotors CNC ,does anyone know (assuming that is cyclex)

Spikeybike, thank you for your opinion. I am leaning toward either ditching it and trying to find or make a cool brace or having the fender re-chromed. My buddy Ohio Cafe Racer thinks I should use a GS fender or aftermarked fender?

I would like to see them fit a few more holes on the rotor. Yes it is a CycleXChange rotor, Ken did an excellent job on it not quite sure if it is CNC'd or drilled using a pattern? I tried to do my own thing on a spare rotor and did a great job of F'N it up, tried to rush it and ended up breaking quite a few bits...

hi ed,

I say invert it. Fabricate a fender bracket and put the fender under the bracket. Paint the fender black and chrome the fender bracket. I think it'll give more detail to your lower fork area, but not take the attention away from that absolutely awesome paint job. Good Luck on your project and by the way, Love the tank and seat

Benjie and LenD thank you for the kind words about the bike!

I got a bit of time in the garage yesterday so I check a few more things off the list. I put back together all of the controls as well as the Speedo and Tach. Below are some pics of the finished project:

Mother-In Law is coming in to town this evening, the wife usually lets me stay in the garage when she is here. Hopefully will get some more work done this weekend. My little (only in age) brother is hopefully going to help me get her off the table. Next Wednesday a few of my buddies from the OCR group are coming over to strip my new GS.

Yeah....Ed and his little brother Luke(should we say big brother Luke...big boy) will have no problem lifting it off the table.

Hell.....Ed...I bet either one of you could lift it off with no help at all

Luke and I were able to get her down off the table no problem! Man does she look awesome sitting on the ground. Now I just need to tie all of the loose ends up and get her running. This weekend I mounted the speedo and tach, mounted the carbs and fixed a front suspension leak (didn't have the allen head on the bottom of the fork tight enough). I will post pics later when I get home.

Greg, I would not want to lift the bike down by myself, might get a sore back. HA!! Glad to hear your gonna make it Wednesday, meet at my place at 7 p.m. I will provide pizza and beer, doubt you will need to bring anything? Should be fun to strip down El Sucio!

Anyone here know where to get a nice rear axle? Anyone know of aftermarket replacements, pretty sure they are discontinued from Honda? Over the years it looks like someone used a 5 pound sledge to beat the axle back on more than once. If I can not find a nice one, I will pull mine off and grind it down and have it chromed! Let me know if anyone has done this or found a good replacement, please!

RJ it is a 73 swing arm, did not go with the wider swing arm, since I wanted to run the drum brake and a narrow rear tire...

OK, finally got around to taking a few pics of the roller on the ground! Here you go:

Next up, I need to get the oil tank re-powder coated as I scratched it big time. I have a few pieces that need chrome, need to purchase K&N pod air filters and new coils and wires (probably Dyna 5 ohm coils). Then put back together the front brake and adjust the rear a bit more, then mount weld and paint the X-Pipe... Once that is finished, it is one to wiring and then start up & tune! Once that is complete the BCR body work will be mounted!

My buddies think I am crazy, because I have not set the tank and seat on the bike yet, and do not plan too until I have a runner. If I do that I may got too excited and rush things, and I do not want to risk scratching them?

I need to post some pics of the damage we did to one of my other bike last night. We stripped a GS 1000 bare in an hour and a half!

Ed...you are a stronger man than I!! I would have had that body work on there the moment I pulled into the driveway.

Everyone needs to see this bike in person....none of the photos do it true justice. Ed is definately building a world class....show bike and I wouldnt be surprised if you start seeing it in some magazines or bike shows....thats how amazing this bike is. I was absolutely stunned last night, to see it in person!!

The paint on the body work is soooooo amazing in person....just doesnt look real...looks like the paint is just floating on the tank....WILD!!

Oh......brotha...you definately have to post some photos of the tear down on the GS1000 from last night...I have a few pics also. Did you get any good pics of all the sheep wool we pulled out of the airbox.....or the corn??

Greg thank you for the kind words, means quite a bit coming from you. Especially after being able to hang out learn from you (not to mention all of your help!) and watch you build your tanks. Here are a few pics from last nights destruction party (not an SOHC Honda, but it is a DOHC?)

Should be a fun little build after I finish buttoning up the cafe. Next winter's project and challenge, since I went overboard on the cafe build (aptly named Excess) I am going to do this chop on the cheap! Should be fun........

So finally got around to getting some work done on the bike this past week! Over the past weekend, I mounted the K&N Pods. Mounted the oil tank, and set the seat on the bike to see if the battery I purchased fit (did not) and how rough the riding position will be. Also started in on the exhaust, will post pics of that later...
