400/4 Pipes
« on: November 23, 2007, 04:32:49 PM »
Oh My God, I hav'nt been here for qute some time, and I'm slightly over the limit.
(That's my excuse for not doing a spekl check)

Anyways......

400/4 1975
I want one, and can have one (Canary yellow)
But...
It has THE mess of 4 into 1, Not the sweeping 4, but two crossing two and finally into one.

My question...
Is this the standard for th 4/4 as I've had a 550/4 that had lovely parallel sweeping 4 into 1

And I couldn't be arsed spending more than an arm and a leg getting it back to standard.

Paul.

The original headers came down side by each to a flat 4-1 junction, many people think it looks really nice. You have some aftermarket pipes. OEM exhausts are unobtainable I believe, David Silver has "pattern" exhausts for 350 pounds sterling that look very close to original.

The 350-pound DSS exhausts are factory Honda with all the right stampings.

It costs a lot, but if the rest of the bike is perfect, they'll MAKE it.

Also, the yellow was a '76 color.  What color are the sidecovers?

Bike has been "beautifully" restored.
But....... I need to remember, I live in a world where 4/4's are not readily available,
going concern..... € 2400.00 thats roughly $ 3500 USD

Price opinions..? (and freight charges)

AAAAAnnnddd the owner has been quoted as stating that the engine needed NO  work.
Personally... Primary and cam chains get dumped as a matter of course.

Anyway, will ring in the AM for an actual price and a history

Later.

The primary chain is a Hy-Vo, so I doubt it'll need replacement.  They're REAL tough.  The camchain is made of elastic, so depending on miles, newness of chain, tensioner seized or not, and level of "rustling", it might need a camchain.
